We were there for two days. The price was not bad we paid $210 for the two days. The place is very clean and well kept. It’s a little house that stands alone. It has two rooms one upstairs and one downstairs along with a little portable bunk bed. The location is great as well, it is close to pretty much everything. There is a Vons Supermarket close buy. I suggest if you are planning on cooking stop at the Walmart at Highland before driving up the mountain and get all you need. Then drive up the moutain, because things are quite pricey up there. It as everything you would need for a small get weekend get away. It has everything a hotel would have but even better. There is pots, plates, spoons, forks, knife, drinking wears, and a stove to cook on. There is even a patio and a table outside if you want to sit outside and also a small grill to do some BBQ. The place is very quite and extremely cozy. It’s is kids friendly as well. We took our toddler and 3 months baby there. The only downfall to it is that there should be another television in the downstairs bed room. Apart from that it’s is amazing. We will bed booking for the winter of next year.

We planned to have a cozy weekend relaxing in the cabin, so we specifically made sure the place has TV, DVD player, and Wi-Fi (in addition to the other amenities). Our room did have these features... sort of.

The Wi-Fi is fine, but the INTERNET bandwidth is unusable most of the time. The front desk said it is an ongoing issue with their Internet provider, and they cannot do anything about it. Bottom line, the advertised Wi-Fi was basically not provided, and should not be advertised.

There is indeed a TV and a DVD player. However, the DVD player is a very old model that they apparently lost the remote control for. It is not possible to play any DVD that requires any navigation through an on-screen menu (i.e., almost every DVD). If it works by just inserting it and pressing "play" on the DVD player, then you're good. Otherwise, you are SOL. After playing (or trying to play) a DVD, it was not possible to get the TV to see more than one TV station. It required a magic sequence of turning off the DVD player, selecting the right TV input, unplugging the power from the cable box, waiting a certain amount of time, then plugging in the cable box and waiting about 5-10 minutes for it to find all the channels. Again, the bottom line is they advertised features of the room that they did not provide.

I was surprised that there did not appear to be any housekeeping service. We stayed for 3 nights, and the only thing we got was a staff member coming to the door offering us fresh towels. We had to go ask for TP when it ran out. The bed was never made. The room was not swept or otherwise cleaned. I concluded that they must consider it to be like an extended stay place where housekeeping only services the room every few days. I was even more surprised just before I started this review to read other reviews that talked about housekeeping service. So now I am surprised and confused!

We were also disappointed to find out that the guest laundry room shared a wall with our cabin. We knew the cabin shared a wall with another cabin since that was in the description. However, it was unacceptable for the noise of a laundry room to be a surprise!

We were in Cabin #8 for a Fri-Mon stay.

Our first night was spent at Cathy's Cottages but the front door was a glass door covered by a curtain. The light from the cars exiting the driveway across the street shined through and made for some difficult sleep. Called the office the next morning and the very friendly/professional representative gave us another room at Sleepy Forest. Both rooms were very comfortable and had that cabin feeling we were looking for. However, at Sleepy Forest the cottages were stand alone. Sleepy Forest is also about 5 minutes or less from the village whereas Cathy's Cottages is slightly over 10-12 minutes away. In room fireplaces, nice! Both rooms had little refrigerators and bathrooms were all modernized. WIFI was the only major dissatisfaction of ours. WIFI was very, very slow.

Room Tip: Sleepy Forest Cottages would be our preference over Cathy's Cottages.

Sleepy Forest Cottages was a great find. We had a cabin with an indoor jacuzzi tub and fireplace and it was just what we needed! The cabins are well maintained and the people who work here are so accommodating. It’s in a great location, too. It’s close to hikes, the village, and a Vons nearby so you can shop and cook in your kitchen. We will be back!
