The Rodeway Inn is basic but alright. The landscaping is nice with attractive flowers and fountains. It is a short .3 mile walk to two BART stations making it convenient to go to San Francisco or Oakland. UC Berkeley is about a mile away, easily walkable (the side streets are more pleasant) or if you drive there is two hour pay parking.
One slight annoyance is that the room has no towel racks or any hooks to hang up a hand or bath towel. Breakfast has no hot foods or hard boiled eggs and only had 2% milk. They did have whole wheat bread and jams (orange marmalade, etc.) and Raisin Bran. For the expensive San Francisco area it is a good value for weeknights. The prices go up considerably on the weekend so we relocated to the Clarion Hotel in Concord which is much nicer with a much, much better breakfast for more than $25 a night less with a King size bed (the Rodeway had a queen size one) and a room close to double the size. The trade off, though, is a longer BART ride.More
