Plockton Lodge is actually a semi-detached property, something that is not clearly apparent in the advertising description and which led to some confusion on our arrival. We stayed in the ‘Tulach Beag’ half along with our adult children and dogs. The house is nicely decorated and furnished and was clean, tidy and equipped with all the necessary mod-cons required for dealing with the vagaries of Scottish weather. The utility room was especially useful. Some booking sites state no towels, bed linen or pets allowed but these were wrong as all were provided or allowed. The setting is wonderful and there are lots of great forest tracks right on the doorstep to walk or cycle. I forgot my fishing rods but I’ll make sure I have them next time. Plockton and the beautiful Isle of Skye are only a short car drive away and a trip to Applecross should not be missed. The Shore Restaurant and Plockton Inn are a must for good food and music though we didn’t have time to fit in Calum‘s Boat Trip to see the seals. All-in-all a great little house in a wonderful setting with all you need for a holiday in the Scottish Highlands. Look forward to going back. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed our stay at Plockton Lodge. The house is very comfortable and well equipped with everything you need for a relaxing holiday. It is surrounded by beautiful countryside and we loved having great walks in the area. It is very well situated for visiting the picturesque village of Plockton but also further afield with good road links to Applecross (has to be the most amazing drive of my life!), the castle Eilean Donan and super handy for the bridge over to stunning Skye.
I would highly recommend this rental.
The location is good if you want to avoid crowds and noise. Our neighbors were pleasant so we had a peaceful week. Although the house needs a better cleaning, the carpeted floor smells bad (the guests are allowed to bring their pets), so it needs a very intensive cleaning. We needed some time to find out how the shower, oven works and unfortunately the response from Isabelle was very slow, she only responded to emails usually a day later and did not respond to SMS messages. Fortunately, we could figure out how the shower and oven worked, but I can imagine the slow response can be a problem. We only received one set of towels, but I think at least two clean sets are necessary per week. So overall the house and the place have good potential, but improvements are needed. With these improvements, the place would be really really good.
This cottage is near Plockton but very quiet. It is a great spot for exploring the area. A shot drive takes you to Skye bridge, or Plockton.
The cottage is lovely with everything you need for your stay. We thoroughly enjoyed staying there.
