Beautiful venue for Sunday lunch benefitting from superb views of Ullswater and the fells to one side and with mountain views to the other. Sunday lunch from the table d'haute menue was excellent value. Sandwich snacks also available together with afternoon tea.

If you are going for afternoon tea don't eat lunch or go for a long walk before to build up an appetite. A tea fit for royalty

As a treat I took my wife here for afternoon tea for her birthday, the day was dull and overcast but it did not spoil the views from the Orangery over Ulleswater. On arrival we were greeted by Simona who was so friendly. We had a window table and she gave us time to settle down before returning for our order. We both chose the full afternoon tea and what a treat it was. (See photo). The service was quick and soon we were enjoying what can only be described as tea fit for royalty.

Stopped off at this hotel at lunchtime on our way to an overnight stay further down at Bowness. Impressed as we walked in by a lovely warm welcome by a gentleman member of staff saying you can choose to sit anywhere you like, the menu is the same in every room so just wander around and see where you feel comfortable. That is what we did and ended up in the orangery. Ordered two soups and knowing we had a dinner to look forward to later in the day opted to share a croque monsieur, so glad we did, it was really a full meal in itself. The soup was beautifully cooked, the sandwich was amazing in as much as everything tasted as it should, rich cheese, fabulous ham and the side salad and coleslaw were wonderful..I can highly recommend a lunch stop here, We enjoyed it so much, loved the ambience, we intend to return for an overnight stay early next year. So glad we stopped on the spur of the moment, fabulous and because of the quality of the food, good value for money. Setting is just gorgeous.
