Description: Our restaurant is located on the shores of Lough Swilly, at Fahan, Co.Donegal, in the premises of The Railway Tavern which was formally the Station House of the Londonderry & Lough Swilly Railway Company (L&LSR)..Our Main course dishes are cooked to perfection on our wood burning Firebox Grill, just like in the old days were the engineers on the locomotives, used their firebox to heat their snacks !The Bar and Restaurant still have the old fires blazing which create a very cosy , snug room to eat or drink in ..

We (2 adults & 2 children) stopped here for dinner as it had been recommended to us. We hadn't booked but thankfully got a table as they were busy. We choose from the Early bird menu which had a great selection of starters and mains. 2 of us ordered steaks and they were cooked to our liking. All the food was beautiful which made it a very enjoyable family meal. The staff were very friendly and attentive and even accommodated us bringing a birthday cake. Thank you so much. Will definitely be back if in the area and will recommend.

In the middle of a snow blizzard in Fahan we popped into the pub to get warm and a bite to eat. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and the food was superb. A lovely atmosphere with open fires and the food cooked in front of you on an open grill. We'll definitely be back.

Warm welcome, cosy setting, The restaurant has that great Irish country cottage feel with the roaring fires. It was a unique feature to see the meat being cooked on the grill in front of you. The food was amazing from the starters to the desserts. For the mains I got the TBone and my wife had the fillet...Both melted in your mouth and by far the nicest steak we both have ever tasted, The chargrill smoked taste was unreal and mouth watering. We will definitely visit again.

We (two adults and two teenagers) went for the Early Bird menu on Saturday evening. The menu had a mouth-watering variety of starters and mains, with some tasty dessert options as well. We went for the chicken wings, chowder, soup and brie for starters and were presented with generous, appetizing dishes. For mains, the steak lovers opted for ribeyes & sirloins, while I chose the cod. Again, very generous, tasty portions accompanied by perfectly cooked vegetables, potatoes and fries. The house red wine was an especially nice one too. Ended up not ordering dessert as we were quite satisfied at that stage. We were attended to promptly and efficiently by friendly, helpful staff and we found the meal to be excellent value for money. The total bill was approx. €85. Don’t think there’s too many places offering the best of steak and cod at those prices, all in best of surroundings with the best of service. It would be advisable to book in advance as the place was quite busy while we were there.
