This is a hotel with very helpful friendly staff in a great location with super views. However it is in desperate need of refurbishment as I don't think the rooms have been upgraded in over 20 years and it shows.
Its a real shame....

Looks great from outside. Stunning location with spectacular views. Which is probably how they get away with operating as a sub standard hotel. Lobby quite flash and all maintenance dinars seem to be spent on this. But...The whole place is dirty. Rooms and restaurant. Filthy stained carpets. Antiquated bathrooms but not in a nice way! Taps coming out of gaping hole in wall. Hairs in bath. Yuk! Dirty marks on doors. Yep..water was hot. Thanks for that. We were unwell. No room service. What?! Unbelievable. No tea bags by kettle. Fridge empty except for a giant bottle of water. OK thanks again. TV not working. Noisy with huge Chinese groups leaving early. In fact it seems this hotel is catering for the Chinese market who are definitely less particular, not well travelled and never complain. So big group business rolling in hence why worry about the others. But guys...the others get onto Trip Adviser and tell it like it is. Your ratings are terrible. Take note. Moving on...
Food ordinary. However restaurant manager was very kind to we sick folk who only wanted some soup and a bit of yogurt and rice. Not the full 25 dinar buffet. Which is a crazy price for bog standard food. So he charged us less and we appreciated that.
For this sad hotel to be part of a rich chain like Movenick is outrageous. It needs a total overhaul. Spend the bucks guys! 11 of our group complained. All well traveled. Sold as 4-5 star tour. This hotel is 2 max.
Stay somewhere else unless you get a really cheap deal.

Dear Jill R,

I am really saddened to read your review as it does not depicts the standards our resort is known for. Thank you for sharing your feedback and I would like to apologise for any inconveniences you encountered during your stay. I personally hope you are well now.

I took your comments very seriously and asked the head of departments to take charge and immediate actions so that the unfortunate circumstances will not be repeated. Our Executive Housekeeper will look in more detail the cleaning standards and will follow through with the team the procedures. The Food & Beverage Manager is also made aware of your dining experience and he too will find ways to make it convenient to our guests.

We hope that you will reconsider your opinion of the resort and give us another opportunity to welcome you back again.

Sincerely,

Rania Bawalsa

Nice hotel, good breakfast, attentive Staff, very elegant hall well worth some photos, but with the problem of most of the Jordan places we visited: flies...millions of flies...! Apparently October to December is the "flies invasion", presumably related to some agricultural issues of the area.

Dear Letsgoblues1,

Thank you for sharing your review and I am glad that you have an overall enjoyable stay in our resort. I took a note of your comment about the flies and while its true its somehow related to the season, the team is doing all necessary to control them in the resort.

We hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back again in our property.

I stayed in better hotel during my different trip on term of facilities. But I have to tell that the personal make your stay unforgettable. If you are not looking for luxurious hotel but exchanging with exceptional people it is a good place. Indeed, the people make you forgetting the default of this old hotel, the view is exceptional mostly when you wake up in the morning and you find yourself above the clouds. The food is good and vary. The services is right and they answered to all your request. Really the employees make you forget that this Hotel is very old. Inconvenient point is far away from the entree of the archeological site but in the same time you won't have this spectacular view on Petra if you are not on the highs.

Room Tip: Having a room with the view on the valley will be great

Other than having a nice view of the valley, a marginal hotel - it did not live up to Movenpick standards. I suggest staying somewhere else. Why? fridge didn't work, AC didn't work, TV had no channels, stained carpets, food was basic, no room service, etc.
