Not only is this a beautiful hotel, but it is located right next to the entrance to Petra. That helps because it's a long walk to the Siq if you don't like horseback riding. It has a great "Cave Bar" where you can sit outside and enjoy a drink. The rooms are a decent size, very clean and quite. Food is delicious. Try the Petra chicken pita roll and yes it comes with American fries.

The idea of taking a whole village and turn it into a hotel is lovely. Rooms were scattered around with the pool at the bottom of the hill and restaurants and shops on top. Each room was decorated with a different ambiance that added to the flavor of the hotel. Truly amazing

it is not a starred hotel ! just a simple village accommodation. they could develop it as a good desert resort, but far from it at the moment. it is just a basic accommodation, rooms not up to the mark, if you like to experience residing in a village near the mountains then this is it, don't expect anything more, meals are very average too! and yes it is far away from the Petra site!

Room Tip: if you want to visit Petra site then this place is not for you! for village feel and mountain view, this is ok

We did not stay in any hotels in Jordan except this one (excavated a site in Madaba). This perhaps has coloured my view of the hotel, but I thought the beds were comfy, the rooms amazingly spacious and with a great view.

I personally do not remember eating at the restaurant and probably most of the trip taking in the sites outside of the hotel, as you should... but then I wasn't staying in the hotel to enjoy the hotel really.

For those complaining about paying for drinkable water in a country where fresh water is NOT a commonality, I question whether it is wise for you to visit any place outside of your comfort zone.

If you are a Western tourist who cannot imagine having to endure simplicity, I would suggest a fancier hotel.

I would give this a negative star if I could. It is not the closest hotel to Petra. The facility is not like the online photos - maybe it was years and years ago, but not now. Our room was filthy dirty - I keep my socks on the whole time - even in the dirty bathtub/shower. It appeared as if the room had not been cleaned in decades. The linen were thread bare, The heater barely worked. The worn drapes barely covered the windows. Doors could easily have been broken into. The rooms are only accessible from outside and too much of the lighting had burned out bulbs. Our lousy guide left us there and stayed elsewhere, the staff spoke very MINIMAL English so if there was an issue, it was never resolved - our problem, but don't think hotel management will go out of their way to understand. Dinner was awful - not tasty, few choices, even the sandwiches were bad. Breakfast buffet was average at best. This is not a quaint rustic village look-like hotel - it is filthy, old, run down, not maintained hotel that is barely making it except for group tours that are getting by on a bare bones budget. I understand not to expect certain amenities, but cleanliness is not optional. Wi-fi usually accessible in restaurant and lobby but could be sketchy.
