Options for accommodations on Cariacou seem limited but this was a pleasant surprise. Low key, friendly staff, clean well appointed (if basic rooms) right in Hillsborough village. On the beach. Only negative was that the hotel restaurant was only open for breakfast (included) and lunch. Evening meal options in the village were limited. Overall would recommend

I have been to the restaurant several times. The service is excellent, the staff polite and helpful, However all this is let down by the lack of availability of menu. On every visit, at least 30% of items on menu are not available. Deserts offer no choice! Please either cut down the choices on menu, or put items on that you actually have!

I was hesitant to book here because the reviews are very mixed. That said, it was perfect for us and we loved it. Yes, service is average, but the location is fantastic especially if you have one of the 4 beachfront rooms. We were in S5 which is the top right and looks out onto the ocean - we listened to the waves crashing all night and it was bliss. The mattress is *amazing* - so comfortable. I could have sat in bed all day listening the the waves and looking at the view. Bathroom - very clean and modern and met our needs. Two windows looking directly out on the ocean. No balcony, but you don’t need one as there is a communal balcony for this small hotel with beach chairs where your an sit and sip your morning coffee. Service was fine and everyone answered our questions. Had service been stellar, this would have been 5 stars based upon price and expectations. We liked the adjoining restaurant, Callaloo, and the waitresses were very friendly. If you go, I recommend the red snapper which was delicious (but note it is a whole fish with the head included so just be forewarned in case you are not used to that). If you want a great lunch spot and day trip, head over to Paradise Beach Club for grilled conch, lobster or tuna (or whatever is fresh that day) and ask the owner, Mrs. Allison, to have her captain take you to Sandy Island for a few hours after lunch - an absolutely amazing way to spend the day!

Room tip: It is definitely worth the added cost to have one of the 4 ocean front rooms.

If you're after authentic Caribbean then Carriacou is hard to beat. No mass tourism here. There are various guest houses and airbnbs in Hillsborough but when I need a hotel then I love the waterfront location and ease of swimming right in front of my room. The views to Union Island in the north and to Sandy Island in the marine protected area just offshore are spectacular. The sunsets from the Mermaid are amazing. The rooms are modern, clean and well-equipped. The staff are competent and helpful, from office and front desk staff to the maid service. The main dive shop is a short walk up the road.

First this "hotel" is actually laid out like a conventional guesthouse: it was poorly designed and only four rooms have beachfront views (please note without balconies!). So your "beachfront" view is actually two windows. Also, the rooms have no affordances in them - no towel racks, no lounge seating and inadequate lighting and nowhere to open your luggage but on the floor. Plus checking in was a total shock: absolutely no furniture for arriving guests to sit on and it took over 15 minutes for us to check in - and we were the only guests checking in! Overall I can't recommend this place to anyone. Stay somewhere else if you can.
