Really disappointed to hear about the closure of Golden Tulip. Everytime I visited for dinners or weekend getaways since I was a little girl, I really enjoyed my time there. Mr. Saleem was a great help for me and and made sure to look in for all our requirements. Unfortunately this place will only remain as nostalgia here on!

This hotel is being demolished since January 2020 for renovation. The management have taken over another nearby hotel called rotanah.
Hence if now on you booked novotel hotel it's new branded one and all old reviews are not applied.
Stayed in the Hotel during my Visit in Oman in 2004. Also It was near to the Airport so naturally went for it. Felt great so did not think twice when I booked it second time When I visited Oman in 2018. However, felt that it has lost its sheen and glamour. But the staff was quite friendly and helpful. Another good thing apart from its proximity to the Airport is that the hotel is located near to Carrefour Muscat City Center.
This place well maintained and has a touch of nostalgia. Nice breakfast and friendly staff. The rooms are nice, spacious and clean.
One thing but, they charge 8OMR a for a ride in their 14 seater van to the airport. That’s bit too much.
This hotel is situated very close to the airport of Muscat, which is the main reason we booked here, having an early morning flight.
On arrival there was the concierge outside and as there is not much space to pull up and unload your car (and we had a big car for a family of 5...), he was not very friendly and helpful, but rather rude. It was another man who reacted very fast and put some barriers aside, so we could stop and unload. My wife was already on steam after this...
The check-in was fairly slow and there was not much information given, but they were very good about us staying next door to our children and giving us a walk-through door, just next to the pool. The hotel was fairly empty when we arrived in the afternoon, but in the evening, when we returned, it was totally crowded - I guess this hotel is used a lot by airlines, that cancel flights... ;o)))
All the hotel facilities are in good working condition, but the internet was quite slow and it took me a while to print our boarding passes in the business center. Likewise the interior was used, so I would recommend to brush up the hotel one of these days.
The big plus for us was the very early and very good breakfast you can get here, which came to us as a surprise, as we had already planned to leave with empty stomachs... If I recall well, it is available from 06:00 h.
One little detail which may be interesting for you if you are returning a rental car and have been driving in the desert and through the mountains: There is a car wash just next to the filling station very close to the hotel, where the cleaning of the car is 1,5 OMR, opposed to the 12-15 OMR the car rental companies like asking from you when you return a sandy car. Nice little saving possible... ;o)))
All in all a good place for a night if you need to be at the airport early, but for a longer stay in Muscat I would not recommend this place.
Stayed at this hotel for a few nights on business and I’m sure in its day it was good. However now it’s a bit dated and worn carpets and fixtures. The rooms are large and have everything you need - just dull and dated. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Used the airport transfer and it was good. It’s good value for money.
