My friend who got married today paid P10,000 in advance to this hotel as part of the their wedding fee. However, the venue was transferred to a nearby hotel. She did not bother refunding the P10,000, which she understood was non-refundable.
She only requested that a portion of it (P8000) be used to pay for two rooms for those guests who want to sleep in Tagaytay instead of going back to Manila. She will not refund the P2,000 anymore.
Last night, my friend spoke with the hotel manager, who agreed with the arrangement.
Now, we went to the lobby to check-in only to be told a different story: we cannot use it as planned.
My friend called up and said, "Please allow them to check-in; we will settle tomorrow morning. Those people are all tired." In the season of giving, this terrible and heartless hotel along with its management have the audacity to say "no" unless we pay a new fee upfront.
May I just say that the P10,000 was paid in advance, no questions asked, and you cannot give tired guests some allowance to sleep? To the management, short-sighted, foolish, and heartless as you are, are you that desperate for cash that you cannot wait for your client (who paid P10,000) to come over the next morning to settle additional fees?
This treatment is an embarrassing stain on the otherwise nice reputation of Filipinos for being hospitable.
