One of the most important temples of the archeological site, build at the end of the 11th century. It contains 4 huge standing and gilded Buddhas (10m tall). We visited Bagan and the archeological site with an e-bike, one for 2. Sitting behind, I could guide with Google Maps (all temples are well-located !).

This temple built in the 1100s is a must see it is great state of repair and is absolutely awesome its set amoungs about 2000 other temples and pagodas and considered the best which it is . The only downside is the local vendors outside the temple which are fairly annoying. A must see if in Bagan .

Ananda means Beautiful in Myanmar language, so this is one of the most beautiful pagodas you will see! Definitely you’ve got to go there!

Be sure to walk the perimeter to view the temple from outside, where you can see its beauty and grandness. There are souvenir shops on two exit sides of the temple: one is a lot cheaper than the other even though they sell the same goods. The expensive side is the one close to where the restaurants are and where Ananda Okkyaung is situated. You want to go to the other side for cheaper prices and more variety as well. Basically I bought a shirt for 8,000 kyats (bargained down from an initial price of 12,000 kyats) which they sold at 3,000 kyats (initial price) on the other side and which a friend was able to get down to 2,000 kyats.

We spend 3 nights here at Bagan, a full day with car and tour guide, half day with a horse cart to visit temples, the tour guide told us, we've visit all the important sights,
nothing else he can take us to see, or maybe some temples are not accessible? we did visited many temples as result, Ananda Temple is my favorite, it's big and beautiful, must had been restored many stage, 4 big shiny Buddha looks almost like new, since all temples at Bagan 8 or 9 hundred years old, I bought Bagan Mystique and Glimpses of Glorious Bagan books, no answer to be found, there are no details map of Bagan temples, no description of name at each temple, just follow the tour guide wherever he takes you, listen to history of each one, after the third temple, every temple begin to look the same, maybe that just me? the true of the matter I enjoy every moment, everything here happen almost a thousand years ago, I am fortunate to walk among the ruin.
