Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge

The oldest hotel at Ngorongoro crater, just on the inside has a great colonial atmosphere. The entrance has grandeur, a massive central hall, perfect views from terraces and all rooms into the crater. My wife fell in love with the palce and did not want to leave the next day. Food a breakfast and dinner is buffet style with plenty of choice. WiFi is free for 30 minutes after that 5 dollar for 1 hour, or 10 dollar for 24 hours, price per device.

Room Tip: If you are close to the central hall, the WiFi works in the room as well.

Very nice hotel sitting on the rim of the crater, beautiful view from the patio balcony - nice place to enjoy a beer after a day of safari. Staff very friendly and accommodating; always present.

Food: Variety of dinner food on the buffet was great - enjoyed a (somewhat) made-to-order pasta dish. Breakfast also had a good variety. Food was good.

Room - bed was firm but I liked it. Slept well. Heads-up: hot water runs from 5 pm to 11 pm, and again in the morning hours starting at 5 AM. Let the water run in the shower, and turn on the sink faucets and there should be a warm shower in about 8-10 min. The generator shuts down between midnite and 5 AM, so you may want a flashlight to help you get to the bathroom.

I know it is winter in Tanzania in July but our stay at the NWL was an very cold experiance. The hotel could at leats turn up the heat inside but the rooms and the restaurant was so cold that we just went to bed after dinner. The location is breathtaking but the rooms and the restaurant need renovation.

They have tried to renovate the place to make it nice but the fact remains that for the price this place isn't worth it. Bathroom is tiny and old. Room is small though reasonably nice decoration. They have a nice dinner buffet. The view is indeed gorgeous but most people will spend only an evening here and you can get the same view for free at a nearby lookout. Surely you can find a better place for this price. Simply not worth the exorbitant price
