Ngorongoro Wildlife Lodge
Reviewed 27 April 2017

My wife and myself at this hotel for one night. The location of the hotel is the first and last USP. It's on the rim of Ngorongoro Creater and the view from the dining hall view point as well as Room are just mind boggling. Believe me, you will feel out of the world. I can spend hours just seating and watching the view from my room.
The rooms are good not great. The toilet is very small, with all the basic facilities. Food is ok, not very good.
The staffs are very friendly, helpful and always smiling and greeting to the visitors.
But in my view, overall service should be improved. Also they have to improve the food quality and variety.

Room Tip: 1st Floor rooms will be for better view.

The hotel is located right on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater which is 600 m (2,000 ft.) above the floor of crater. Therefore you could have an overview of the well-known Nature Wonder, clearly see the Lake Magadi (a seasonal salt lake).
The best timing for viewing the crater is around sunrise and before sunset. Due to its location on southwest side of the crater, you could shot good pictures with haziness of early morning and brightness of late afternoon without annoying interruption of sunlight. If you prefer quietness, you may stay at you room to enjoy the view as all rooms are facing the crater. Otherwise the Rhino Longe Bar with full-height window and wide terrace outside is the place you could enjoy beer or coffee and the view in the mean time.
When I was watching the Ngorongoro Crater, I had the feeling of both near and far. It is near because such a big wonder of 20 km diameter is just underneath. It is far because I can not hear the roaring of thousands of animals there. I am sure you will not regret staying here to experience such feeling.

Room Tip: All rooms have the view of crater as learnt from hotel management.

We stayed in this hotel after our safari ride in Ngorongoro crater. Upon arrival, we were greeted with welcome drinks. The hotel view was superb. It is situated right at the edge of the crater so the view down the crater looks amazing. The hotel interior is clean and modern. The dinner buffet was good with lots of variety. Cozy and equipped room. Nothing to complain about it.

The lodge is in a stunning location perched overlooking the incredible Ngorongoro crater.
The rooms are old fashioned - not very big, and the bathrooms cramped.
That said, the bed was comfortable and they were clean. Magnificent views from the room.
Wifi is expensive.
The main problem though was the FOOD.
The buffet was sparse and cheap. I have had better food in a student dorm. I truly could not believe how mediocre it was. The only place we stayed in Tanzania, for example, with almost no fresh fruit to eat - this country is a paradise of tropical fruit! The worst dinner meal I had in three weeks of travel in Africa, and not by a small margin.
