After a long drive to Cafayate we arrived at the hotel to find the porter waiting in the car park to take our bags. We were brought through cool courtyards with fountains to the beautiful main salon which looks out to a pool surrounded by sunbeds shaded by four poster canopies. The room was filled with beautiful antique furniture.
Nothing so vulgar as asking for our credit card for an impression. Instead we were invited to have a glass of champagne before dinner and shown to our room.

It is a wonderful experience when a room truly delights you. Most hotel rooms in this price caregory lack the magic that Patios has. We had one of the cheaper rooms and yet is was huge. Off the spacious main bedroom was a huge room with two beautiful antique wash basins. Off that was the shower room and toilet - and off that was the bath room. We even had a dressing room beside the bedroom.

We opened the shutters in the bathroom to find ourselves looking out at a courtyard with an old jaunting car as they are called in Ireland.

Everything about the hotel was a delight. There was a sense of calm and peace there. The food was exceptional. For starters we had delicious tempura battered prawns that melted in the mouth. Also dollar sized medallions of razor thin Llama. Then we had Trout cooked in a hazelnut flavoured black butter. There were white wine, red wine and lavenderflavoured ice cream and a chocolate confection that was sinmply amazing in flavour. The chef here is a true master.

The wines from the adjoining winery were delicious, especially the Torontes which is not cultivated in New Zealand. (So far as I know)

It was worth travelling a long way to stay in this hotel. It is unbelievable value for money. We joked that it's the sort of hotel that features in travel magazine articles under the headline "Hotel's you couldn't possibly afford to stay in."

It was a truly wonderful experience and without a shadow of a doubt the best hotel we stayed in during our 5 week trip in South America.

We had an absolutely perfect stay here. The room was beautiful, perfectly clean, spacious and with all comforts. The restaurant had excellent food, and of course wine, which was at the same price of the Bodega! The common areas are beautiful and very well decorated. All the staff is attentive and speaks perfect English. We also attended the tour of the winery and was really interesting. I would love to go back.

It is quite a luxuty hotel based withn the context of a wine cellar. The rooms are very very big, furbished with good taste and consistently with the location and the era when it was built.
The bathroom is very big and fully equipped with amenities. The hotel also provides a pool service and a restaurant (prices are in line with the overall quality standard of the place). Breakfast buffet if quite abundant and with a large variety of selections.

I loved this hotel. When we arrived the bellman was immediately there to pick up our luggage from the parking area and provide a bit of the history of the hotel. Upon entering the building you walk through lovely courtyards to arrive at the Reception area. We arrived at lunch time and in the middle of winter guest were having lunch in the beautiful garden. Amazing first impression and we continued to enjoy this hotel.
The staff are very professional. The building and gardens are beautiful. The rooms very very comfortable and clean. The food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were delicious. The location is very convenient.
I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Stayed at patios de cafayate. In hindsight we may have been better off being clear with tour guide to book two adjoining rooms as we had in cachi. 2 adults 2 young kids squeezed in to 1 room was a bit much. Probably exacerbated by the noisy air con, noisy neighbours and thin walls.
The setting looks great Like entrance to an estancia. We were met by reception manager who was helpful carrying our luggage.
The entrance lobby was stylish and big and before dinner you were offered champagne from the bodega. Dinner was lovely and staff were attentive

However there is no bar and if you weren't eating at the hotel no where to get a drink for the kids and hang out

Oh and don't try running in cafayate unless you want stray dogs to bark at you or follow you back to the hotel ( as one did with me!) the staff seemed nonplussed about a dog following me to breakfast and barking outside my hotel door

This hotel is better suited to couples interested ( and able to do a wine tour)

Perhaps hotel Grace cafayate would be better suited to families ( tho look for bargain prices on Expedia )

There is more to do and space for kids to ply and lovely individual rooms with large besuited and balconies.
