From the moment you drive up you are received by a bellman with the biggest welcoming smile. There is a Gigantic, very attractive reception area. There is a very quick check in/out system. The rooms are welcoming, clean and beautiful with a great view of the sea, The Pool "Ah the Pool". The service at the restaurant is warm, quick and professional and Kids friendly too. Made us feel as at home as possible. If there is something that's not on the menu you can always request speaking to the chef who will gladly come over to your table and personally attend to your wishes.
Use your credit card for reserving. Pay in the local currency - you will see a great difference. There is also a free shuttle service to the hotel vice versa.

Room Tip: Ask for a room to view the see when reserving

Hi, I stay at this hotel for one night because it is at 10 minutes away from the airport. It is a very nice place with great facilities. Only two not very good points which I would like to highlight: There is wi-fi only in certain areas, I felt dissapointed because the wi-fi was not available in my room so, if you need wi-fi then yuo need to tell them and pay for it, It is not nice if we are staying at a 5 stars hotel! The second point is that it took very long for getting the food ready for us during our dinner tme at the restorant. Regards...

The hotel is conveniently located some 15 min drive from Simon Bolivar airport, so it is a good option if you need to catch an early flight and want to avoid any inconvenience in the unpredictable Caracas-La Guaira road.

There are only two options in the 5-star hotel segment in the airport area. This is the option to go with if you like to feel the Caribbean and have a nice ocean view; however, the other 5-star hotel in the area could be more convenient if you want to be really close to the airport.

Our room was big, comfortable and clean, however, it had a strong and unpleasant smell due to humidity. Our bed was very comfortable and noise insulation was good. The bathroom was clean and toiletries were good, despite the empty Kleenex box. A/C, TV and Wi-Fi worked with no issues. Although our room was fine, it lacked of basic items like a mini bar and it looked as it was ready for some upgrades, considering the hotel category.

The pool area was very nice, however, it was too noisy due to some people playing high volume music. The loud music played by individuals (probably not guests but local people that just paid a fee to use the hotel pool during the weekend) combined with the hotel ambient music, created an atmosphere that was everything but peaceful and relaxing. There is a great ocean view from the pool area and restaurants, however, there is no direct access to the beach.

Hotel value could be poor or great, depending on the exchange rate you are allowed to use. If you are paying in foreign currencies, the 212 $/night rate may look like too much for the service you get. However, if you manage to pay in local currency, the equivalent in foreign currencies will be the lowest rate you would ever pay for a 5-star hotel.

Breakfast was varied and tasty, however, not as varied as in other hotels of the same category in Caracas. Hotel staff was very friendly, especially the trainee guys in the front desk and the young lady in the ground level outdoor snack bar.

PROS: Friendly staff, quiet rooms, comfortable beds
CONS: Smelly rooms, Noisy pool area

In summary, Marriott Playa Grande is a nice option in the airport area offering an overall good service and good sleeping quality. They just need to improve in maintenance and upgrade their facilities to really deserve the five stars.
