Short trip to the top of the Avila mountain. You can see a really nice view of the city of Caracas. When you get to the top, they're shops with local snacks, hot cocoa etc and sometimes, fun activities for kids and adults are hosted there. Don't forget to take jackets when visiting because it's quite chilly!

You wouldn't want to leave Caracas without taking the Teleferico. It's cheap, fun for all the family, and takes you to the top of the Avila (well almost) without you having to break sweat. If you have the time and the energy I would recommend walking up - lots of beautiful routes to choose from - and tele down..

It's an experience in its own class:

No matter what you eat or drink ('tho' Sibaris' hamburguers worth the trip, and the various crafts licours are wonderful with the climate and the view), just being there with beautifull Caracas at one side, the Caribean in the other and the most wonderfull sky you've ever taste above you

The place is actually pretty beautiful, but take care!
1- There is no water in the bathrooms.
2- No toilet paper also.
3- The vendors on the top of the mountain will NOT accept dollars.

The cable car ride itself is pretty cool also, but I guess the view from the top of the mountain is "the real thing".
Since the country is bankrupt and things don't work very well there, if you want to go, do so at your own risk.

This is actually a really nice break from the city and not just because of escaping from the street chaos but to experience a very different part of Caracas with an amazing vegetation and at 2800 meters and with an spectacular view across the mountains and down to the coast. This is posible to experience if you are lucky and it is a clear day but if it is cloudy you won't see anything and you better take a warm jacket with you since the temperature difference is big.
