My boyfriend and I stayed at the Kestrel Inn for a long weekend and couldn’t have had a better time. The owners Richard and Fiona were wonderful hosts and very accommodating. It’s a warm and cosy inn that felt homely and welcoming.

One of the many highlights of our trip was the food which was fantastic and the extensive wine menu. Every wine recommendation was excellent and paired beautifully with the food.

It’s a great base to explore the Brecon Beacons and the views from the Inn are stunning. We had a wonderfully relaxing weekend and we fully intend to go back. A real treat and I’m so glad we found it.

The Kestrel Inn was where I proposed to my wife some 45 years ago and we decided to return to celebrate our 70th birthdays. Warm and friendly welcome from Richard and Fiona then shown to our cosy and comfortable accommodation with stunning views across to the black mountains. Enjoyed a well-kept ale then excellent food with wine from an extensive list. On the following day, 30 family and friends joined us for lunch. Once again the food was superb and the organisation and service were immaculate. A truly memorable occasion. On behalf of Mary, myself and all our guests I would like to say a very big thank you.

We were in the Brecon area for a couple of days and were looking for accommodation after a day hill climbing. We ended up booking two rooms at the Kestrel Inn and what a good choice that turned out to be, the rooms were lovely and fresh, well cleaned and to top it all fantastic views from the bedrooms. There were great views sat in the garden outside, what a great way it was to finish the hectic day sat there with a chilled beer. We had our evening meal there and even though some of our meal choices were not available the meals we had were very well presented and very tasty. Breakfast was a great start for the day and we were offered plenty of choices and what we had was again well presented (I recommend the coffee) All in all a lovely stay, a lovely place run by a really nice and welcoming owner. This was an old coaching Inn so some of the questions are aimed at a larger establishment but the charm of The Kestrel for us was the friendliness we received and the lovely rural feel of the location.

Room Tip: This is more a B&B than hotel. Both the rooms that we had were excellent

Myself and my friend spent two nights at the Kestrel Inn, sharing the lovely twin room over the bank holiday; and it was fantastic. Richard, Fiona and their family were very friendly, providing us with excellent tips and maps for which to enjoy the beautiful Black mountains and beacons.
A particular highlight of staying at the Kestrel, is the food! The evening menu offers a spectacular array of traditional meals, offset with beautiful locally sourced ingredients, and an eclectic array of specials, infused with mediterranean influences.
The breakfast option is equally impressive, with Richard offering a very tasty, full, hearty and flexible breakfast (inclusive of awesome black pudding); sure to send every eager walker up and down the black mountains.
Overall very friendly hosts, lovely location and views, and beautiful food. We will hopefully be visiting again soon.
