We had a family Sunday lunch here. Greeted at door and as we were early, waited in library. Such a nice way to start and relax rather than charging in. Canapés were tasty. The maitre d was excellent and attentive. Food was traditional rather than contemporary but was classy, both in construction and cooking. Liked that the meat and supporting elements we proportionate rather than the danger of huge helpings designed to please with quantity over quality in some other places. After dessert we had coffee back in lounge which was a great way to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and digest. In Summer the beautiful gardens are worth a stroll. So I would happily recommend if you let yourself relax into it. It is traditional and it could be argued that some menu elements could be contemporised but this is conform and tradition with a touch of Franci Scots.

Excellent menu choice with good seasonal ingredients. A bit of a flash back to the 1980s I would say but in the setting all in keeping and thoroughly enjoyable.

Weve been several time to Greywalls for afternoon tea.

Lunch today was a family lunch and it was ok.

Canapies at the fire lovely

Bread ok sliced no brown and no lovely warm rolls, gluten free bread poor, butter warm and soft.

Boudin Blanc, taste delicious, texture not a favorite, lobster bisque very good, leek and potato soup good

Mains beef delicious, fish ok vegetarian well a potato rosti and a spoon of polenta not so great.

Its the 3 potatoes and two carrots thing that really gets me, I emailed to request in advance good portions.

Desserts yule log again rich and nice coffee icecream but this lunch was more of a Sunday lunch traditional kind of
event not a michelin chez roux experience.

Coffee and petit fours excellent.

All in all the ambiance is lovely but I prefer afternoon tea.

Fantastic wee hotel and Chez Roux dining. The food was incredible and the service by a young waiter especially, Javier, was a real experience. Great time of year for game and they really know how to cook it and present it. Amazing value and incredible wine list. Will be back!
