We’ve been on many trips since our honeymoon trip in June 2016 so we’ve been able to compare other resorts. We love Ocean Point the most! And a special shout out to Chelsea who we always say is the best ever!

We visited the all-inclusive resort about 50 days prior to the devestating hurricanes. The staff and beauty of the island are far beyond any words I can describe. They work so hard to cater to their guests from the beginning to end of your stay. The buffet meals are planned for their number of guests but some people really took advantage like taking a fully stacked plate of pineapple or bacon. Then there would be nothing for other guests, after all this is an island that must import so many items so just consider this and be reasonable. Please tip them and understand this island is not wealthy, pay gratuity for their dedication.
The north/French side of the island is quite different from the south/Dutch side. We enjoyed the Dutch side more due to the modernization and options for travelers. I also want to give some caution to the sun, as I have never sunburned anywhere in AZ or Hawaii but got burned there badly. Just FYI...
Some of our most interesting moments were spent talking to the bartender Damion at the Sunset Bar. He is an impeccable hosts and does a fantastic job engaging with his guests, next thing you know everyone is talking to one another from around the world. I loved that part being the social butterfly that I am! ;-) Damion is the most down to earth and hospitable person and we became fast friends. We also went on a sunset champagne cruise that was breathtaking. They sell out sometimes far in advance and it is reasonably priced so plan ahead. I became friends with a crew member and she said they plan to return and offer their services once it is rebuilt.
On Friday night we were surprised to see a children's drum group walking down the street. The performance they gave was incredibly unexpected! Those kids played their hearts out sweating and well choreographed for a very very long time! LOVE THEM!
As for when the resort may re-open, we are hoping they make it in 2019. We are praying for the entire island and hope that tourists return in droves because this island deserves many blessings!

We took our first couples only vacation here since our honeymoon and could not have imagined a more incredible vacation.

All the food was delicious, but we ultimately ate at Azul almost every meal, because the food was amazing and the view was breathtaking.

And the drinks...what I wouldn't give for a guavaberry colada right about now. Everything was perfection.

I've read some reviews complaining about the planes, but I really can't imagine why. They were never a nuisance to us. We rather enjoyed watchiing them come in while we were in the water at Mayo beach or dining at Azul. They don't come in late and they never seemed loud enough to wake us. Our room was on the side nearest the airport as well.

Peta Gay (sp?) was our absolute favorite waitress at Azul.

I didn't realize the devastation on the hotel or St. Maarten as a whole until just recently and it really broke my heart.

We lost everything to Hurricane Harvey just a few weeks before Irma hit so we have been consumed in our own "disaster relief".

Our hearts are with SXM. I wish there was more we could do from here, but we are praying and when the Sonesta is up and running again & we are well enough on our feet we will be back to the Sonesta Ocean Pointe.

Took my wife for a three day getaway in July, we picked Sonesta Ocean Point because of its high ratings and for being adults only resort. This was the first time after two years we were able to go on vacation without our kids and I wanted our trip to be perfect and relaxing. I was impressed with the resort's location - in reality it looked even better than on pictures. Our room was a butler suite on a top floor, the views were amazing and our butler was great. At first I was a little hesitant booking an all inclusive resort, but after our first dinner at Azul Restaurant, we were blown away by the quality of food. We truly enjoyed our stay, the staff, service, amenities...everything was perfect. We will definitely come back!

We were at the hotel in August and we had a blast!
Amazing location specially the Azul restaurant in morning and evening is fantastic.
This is really a worry free vacation with excellent service by the staff.
I would recommend this resort to everybody who is looking for a luxury and adult only vacation!
