From reading the previous reviews and after staying at two very good B&Bs in Scotland which were cheaper we had very high expectations for Ballachulish Hotel. Our room had a wonderful view but the window was very narrow and quite grubby. There isn't much that can be done about the size of the window but as the view is one of the main selling points of the hotel and they charge extra for a view I felt the window should have been kept cleaner. The room had recently been redecorated, the bed was very comfy and the bathroom was nice. The original part of the hotel is beautiful on both the outside and the inside and the location is great, but I felt that the grand building was let down slightly by cost cutting measures. Due to Covid-19 the rooms are not currently being serviced during the stay which is understandable. All of the small touches that you would expected in a hotel like this have also been removed. We were only given half a loo roll for two nights and one tiny soap to wash our hands with. There was a kettle but no tea and coffee, no water glasses, no shampoo etc provided, the throw customs and bed runner had also been removed which I can understand but this did make the room very basic looking. I felt removing the tea and coffee and water glasses etc was a step too far as the other properties we stayed at in Scotland had not done this. We did ask for these items but they didn't appear. I also noticed that the food serviced at breakfast was the same sort of quality as a breakfast at a chain pub and that the staff do not automatically offer sauces, you have to ask them quickly before they leave the table. The Receptionist was very welcoming on check in but did not ask us if we had enjoyed our stay on check out. From previous reviews it looks as if this hotel had it spot on before lockdown, I feel that they are currently charging too much for what they are currently offering and I hope that they can find a good balance again soon.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on your stay celeste540. We are sorry that your stay fell short of expectations on this occasion and have shared your feedback with the Management Team. As you mention, some amenities have currently been withdrawn from our rooms although many of these are available from our Reception Desk so we are sorry that these were not provided for you. We do feel that any precautions that we can take to help reduce the spread of infection are for the benefit of all and that in time hopefully these will help us to return to normality more quickly. We do hope that you will consider visiting us again in the future, perhaps when further restrictions have been lifted.

We paid £150 for what was basically a 10 x 10 box room, we did express our disappointment at reception, but we're offered nothing in exchange (the said they were full). The wife didn't even want to stay the first night (we had booked for two). There was no view, no arm chairs to sit on (barely enough room for the double bed). There was one chink of light that made us laugh uncontrollably, the main staircase creaks so bad, we were in fits everytime we used it (we even had to post it on FB. Due to the Covid restrictions we had to book a time for breakfast and it was made very clear that if we were late we may have to go to the back of the queue, so we made every effort to be on time, so you would think if the chef knew what time you would arrive at your table, the food would be freshly cooked, but the full Scottish breakfast looked like it had been under the heat lamps for an hour or more, to say the wife and I were disappointed would be an understatement.

Thank you for posting a review of your stay Jeff_B_Ready. We are sorry to hear that you were do disappointed with your visit. We would usually arrange a room move for any guests who are unhappy with their original room allocation but naturally this is not an option that we have when the hotel us busy and all of our rooms need to be used. Although I appreciate that it is small comfort to you now, your feedback has been shared with the Management Team so that they can review these areas going forward.

Fabulous location at the head of Loch Linnhe in the shadow of Ballachulish bridge about 2 miles grom the village - scenic view is to die for.
Super staff, courteous and attentive. Nothing is too much trouble. Good food at reasonable prices. Delighted with our room. Good size bathroom, very comfortable huge bed. Wall mounted flat screen tv. Hair drier. Six power points. We were in the new part of it. The old building certainly has character, two great residents lounges to sit back and relax in., We got lucky with the corner seats staring out the window over the water.

Ate at the restaurant last night and the staff were friendly and the service was very attentive. We all had the Angus beefburger and we all agreed that it was the best burger we have ever tasted, we had a side dish of onion rings as well and wasn't disappointed with them either. The view of the outside with the water and the bridge in our vision was a nice wee treat. Well worth the visit but be mindful that you have to order your food at the bar.

The boys had Steak and Chicken and my sister had a Mull cheddar sandwich with Fries. No pictures sorry. :( the desserts are sticky toffee pudding and frangipani with Sorbet. No SVF desserts on the menu, but I didnt ask.
