Gorse Cottage was a perfect base for exploring Exmoor and surrounds. Most places no more than half an hour drive from the cottage including Lynton/Lynmouth and Minehead. Very clean, comfortable with everything we needed, Gorse cottage felt like a home away from home. Withypool itself is a lovely village and the walk to the Tarr Steps along the river was a great day out. We wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend. Really appreciated the wifi as Exmoor had next to no reception! Thank you for providing wonderful accommodation for a wonderful stay!
My partner and I and our 2 dogs stayed at this lovely cottage for Christmas 2017 and New Year.
Had a wonderful stay. The cottage has everything you could ever need.
It is clean and comfy with good decor. Bedrooms are a good size and the bed was comfy. To be honest we never used the 2 upstairs bedrooms as there were only 2 of us and the cottage can take 6 people. The kitchen/diner is a really big size. And it was great to be able to walk out straight on to the moors from your door then come back to thaw out in front of the log burner. Especially as it snowed! Just perfect!
The garden is enclosed which was great for my dogs.
I will definitely be returning to this fantastic cottage in the summer. Can’t recommend it enough.
Such a great location too. Can’t wait to come back to explore more of Exmoor.
This cottage is lovely. Clean, comfortable with a lovely big kitchen/diner perfect for a relaxing holiday. Withypool is well situated with a river running through which is great for paddling in the summer. There is easy access to Devon, Exmoor and all that that entails. I would thoroughly recommend it
We had a brilliant time in this lovely cottage. It is very well equipped. The kitchen is light and airy and leads out onto a patio area where we ate out on a few occasions as the weather was glorious. We had lovely local walks on Withypool Common and towards Tarr Steps with the dog, who also loved playing in the River Barle with the children. The river is great for the kids and they had fun with their fishing nets. It's a great location, very peaceful. Just the sound of horses walking by and bird song. Good shop and tea room in the village and a pub. We also enjoyed the beach at Woolacombe. We will be back!
I had a fantastic stay here over Feb half term. The cottage is well appointed and equipped with just about everything you could possibly need. The cottage has a homely feel and is lovely and clean. The local shop, tea rooms and pub all within a few minutes walk and many walks directly from the door and beaches an easy drive. I've already booked a return visit.
