We spent 2 nights at brookfields with a large party of friends and children. The accommodation was superb. Everything was of a high standard and the kitchen was stocked with everything that you need. The owners couldn't have been more nice and helpful. The property is also in an excellent location so you can easily explore the surrounding area.
Well, where do I start? Firstly, the family who own the property and reside in the annex connected to the property were the most accommodating, pleasant and lovely people and to put up a family as large and ofttimes rowdy as us was brilliant and brave!
The family stayed for a week and the house truly is one of the nicest we have ever been to; we always rent a property at Christmas and have for a number of years and all agreed that the homeliness and warmth of this house beat all of the others hands down. It felt like a family home! It didn't even feel like we were away from our own homes, it had that 'feeling' as soon as you walked through the door that you would be comfortable here.
The ample sized lounge, dining room and kitchen really impressed us, to cater for as many people as we did we needed a large and spacious kitchen area and this house more than delivered that; we had many a laugh in there and spent our time around the island in the centre of the room while we cooked and prepared the meals for 15 people plus every day.
The lounge was comfortable and the owners had kindly put us a beautiful real Christmas tree in there for us to pop the pressies under.
The dining room easily sat 15 of us on a daily basis and was the room where we spent a lot of time. Doing puzzles, playing games, and most importantly eating and drinking as the family came and went as the week progressed. There was plenty of space to put our property and knick-knacks and we had everything we could possibly need.
The house was so well equipped, whatever kitchen appliance or tool you can think of, they had! And believe me, with my cleaning-obsessed family the two dish-washers came in very handy!
The seven bedrooms were beautiful. The retro/vintage feel was present throughout in keeping with the style of the property, they had plenty of room to sleep two or three comfortably and the owners were more than willing to let us move the odd mattress here and there so we could stay in with whoever we liked. The beds (and this is so important when staying away) were comfortable and well dressed and I think that any top hotel could take some direction from the owners of this property as the place was spotless.
The house was very warm (sometimes too warm for us hot-blooded Stokie's) but after opening a few windows, the mechanical roof-lites in the kitchen and the patio doors in the dining room we obtained ideal temperatures for us all.
The area in Church Stretton is beautiful and only a short drive to the town centres and surrounding villages, it is an ideal location, picturesque and relaxed, a lovely place to visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and are certainly discussing coming back, as the experience was not only lovely, homely and comfortable but it made our family Christmas one of the best we have had. Family is so important and when choosing to go away at Christmas it is incredibly important to feel 'at home' away from home, and this was more than the case at Brookfields.
Amazing place, would CERTAINLY come back.
