This place was so horrible and run-down we were unable to spend more than a half hour there. The furniture was ratty and dirty with years of wear. The linens were all worn-down and horribly faded. The carpeting was threadbare with runs and tears in it so that it couldn't possibly be shampooed. There was grunge from years of use in the carpet folds along the walls, again that could not be cleaned of stains. I could go on. The only good thing about this place was the gracious housekeeper! The odd thing is that it was the same price as a very lovely cottage we stayed in Stow. Is there no quality control? From now on, we will be sure to use a booking agency that actually stands behind its recommendations. I will add photos soon.

Such a great place to stay!! You can tell the cottage was well loved as everything worked. Could not fault anything. Extra good was the enclosed garden out the the back with lawn, great for young children + BBQ facilities. There is also a playground just 2 minutes walk away that is fantastic !!!
We stayed in the cottage with our four chilfdren it was lovely and cosy in a beautiful area the kids had a ball with plenty to do for all , would definetely come back
We received a warm welcome from the housekeeper, who greeted us at the cottage with a tea tray and cakes. Finding a parking space on the Saturday afternoon was a bit of a struggle but it was much easier during the week. The weather was lovely so we were able to take advantage of the beautiful garden. The cottage is very spacious and is full of character but I feel it needs some TLC. The open fire was lovely and the logs supplied were very much appreciated. The cottage was nice and clean and there was plenty of cutlery, crockery etc. We did, however, have problems with the cooker and found that the only part of it which worked efficiently was the oven. The cottage benefited from central heating, so it was lovely and warm - except for the small bedroom, which didn't have any heating at all !! We were provided with plenty of towels and although nothing actually matched (colour wise) they were big and fluffy and smelt lovely. The main irritation was the creaking floors upstairs - it would make a huge difference if the floorboards were nailed down and would not detract from the character of the cottage. We had a brilliant time playing the games which were provided - especially scrabble. We also appreciated the little extras i.e. Carex hand soap in both the kitchen and bathroom, and washing up liquid and clothes etc.
The village of Northleach is absolutely beautiful - we fell in love with it. A visit to the church is a must - so much history. Lots of lovely walks in the area. We went to Woodstock for the day (approximately 50 minute drive) to Blenheim Palace, which was wonderful. The Sherbourne Arms is where we had our Sunday carvery and it was very nice and reasonably priced.
We will definitely be going back to Bank Cottage, hopefully later in the year.
