Excellent cottage for a small family plus dog. Pros - Owner very helpful. Location is perfect for the beach and shops, pubs and cafes, all five minutes walk away. Short uphill walk to the carpark no big deal as we didn't use the car all week finding plenty to do in Lyme for us and two under fives - 2 museums, aquarium, beach, fossil hunting, mini golf, arcade with silly rides, nice shops, good pubs and restaurants, cheese deli and micro brewery within yards. Garden larger than it looked in the pictures, ditto bedrooms. Kitchen and sitting room smaller by comparison but perfectly comfortable and well equipped. Two fridges! Cons - none really, £100 deposit not something we'd had to do before, seems a bit negative. Unloading a bit hairy as road outside very narrow but it's a quaint town and that's to be expected. Lots of stairs but stair gates are provided. Only a small wall cupboard in kitchen to store food. Ignore the storage heaters/instructions and use the plug in heaters. Could do with some big heated towel rails in bathrooms to dry towels and a bit more clothes storage in the bunk room. Well worth booking!

“Amazing Holiday Cottage”
Reviewed 4 October 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Fantastic cottage to stay in Lyme Regis. This was out second stay in these holiday cottages. The owner is great at communication and booking.

We stayed for 4 nights - my husband and I, our 2 year daughter and our dog.

The cottage was tidy and very comfortable with everything we could possibly need.

“Perfect location”
Reviewed 21 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

Teal Cottage is in a great location in Lyme Regis, just a short walk from the sea front but just far enough away not to be too noisy. It has four bedrooms over two floors, two doubles, one twin and a room with bunk beds that will easily accommodate a small adult on the lower berth.
There is one bathroom with a bath on the 1st floor and a shower room on the 2nd floor. Downstairs is a small lounge, a dining room and a galley kitchen.
Outside, up some very steep steps is the garden which is a great sun trap, but it was a shame about the garden furniture which had certainly seen better days. Only two of the chairs were safe to sit on and the pub-style bench was very rickety indeed. The umbrellas were quite useless too.
Parking is about 400 metres away in a public car park, and we were glad we didn't have to walk up the very steep road to it very often. Unloading and loading outside the cottage is a bit of a challenge too as the road is very narrow and other traffic has to squeeze by while you are parked there.
Overall we enjoyed our stay at Teal Cottage. We would have given it 5 stars had it not been for a few maintenance issues:
- garden furniture very scruffy and unsafe
- lack of light bulbs. We spent all week trying to match the assortment of light bulbs in the drawer to the various lamps, but still ended up having to take bulbs from downstairs to upstairs whenever we went to bed
- the incomprehensible TV. We didn't manage to get it to work at all and couldn't find instruction anywhere
- the place could also do with a bit of a clear out. Cupboards were full of lamps, old kettles, and other random items, and the space under the bunk beds was filled with pieces of laminate board, an old Xmas tree etc etc
- only one shower for eight people just isn't enough. Why oh why do people install bathrooms without showers these days?
There are lots of places to eat out within easy walking distance, try Italia just down the road for a really good and reasonable priced Italian meal

“Lovely House, perfectly positioned”
Reviewed 6 June 2014 for a stay in May 2014

The house was plenty spacious for the 5 of us and had everything needed. Particularly liked the raised garden, which was a bit of a sun trap.

“Perfect location with large suntrap garden”
Reviewed 19 May 2014 for a stay in May 2014

Stayed at Teal House with 5 friends, it's easy to find and right in the centre of Lyme Regis. Light and airy bedrooms (no blackouts so bring a mask if that bothers you) and our bed was really comfy. No wardrobe in some rooms but all had pegs and hanging space, well equipped kitchen, two bathrooms (no lock on the upstairs one) and a slightly scary outside loo. The living room is small but we didn't spend a heap of time in there, and space at the dining table for 8. The garden is a brilliant space, suntrap in the evenings with plenty of room for games. Dishwasher and washing machine with a few tablets left by the owner were a great touch and 2 fridges plus a freezer meant no compromising wine space! Parking is a challenge in Lyme Regis but easy with the permits, the carpark is a 2-3 minute walk away. All in all, a brilliant base for the weekend (or longer), would recommend. Only not giving 4 stars due to lack of lock on bathroom, outdoor loo really grubby and living room is a teeny bit of a squeeze. Also, a bit oddly, most rooms had a clock, don't think any of them worked, but don't let any of that put you off. We were all grown up so the spiral stairs were a quirky feature, not sure I'd want a smallish child tackling them.
