Word of mouth sent us here. Shopping locally as all tourists do we got chatting and asked of Rick Steins restaurant.. 'Oh no, if I may say so try the Prawn on the Lawn just around the corner? Far better' She was giggling guiltily on telling us too. So off we trotted in pursuit of said place, we found it, looked at one another quizzically and entered. When we came out we had booked a table for that evening for 8.30 untill 12pm! Groovy, later that evening we pottered back excited, shown to our table by a lovely waiter and ordered a G&T & wine... we pondered the boards on the wall where the menus were and the waiter came back and explained how it all works. Small orders one side and main dishes the other. A kind of mix and match. We had Monk fish & Gurnard that you choose yourself from the fish counter in the window, how much weight wise and then your told costing. Tomato salad, spiced potatoes, seared tuna (Fabulous) Scallops too. All the dishes were well seasoned and smelled amazing, there was nothing they needed at all. I loved the confidence of not putting Salt & Pepper on the table? This to me tells you that it is perfect, they are correct. You take your time here, eat and talk, smile and laugh. Everything was perfect, we even had a desert. One caramel (divine) and my partner a Lemon and peanut desert. From top to bottom we had the most enjoyable evening in there in our stay in Cornwall and Yes, of course we would go again. I am telling everyone I meet of Prawn on the Lawn, it needs to be spoken about. Thankyou to you all for our Heaven scented evening.
