A lovely cosy pub in a great location. The breakfast was lovely and the guy serving it was amazing and so friendly. The room was clean and the bed was so comfortable. The only issue we had was the parking. We found we were blocked in the following morning and had to wait for the other guests to finish breakfast before moving our car out. Apart from that we had an enjoyable stay.

We desperately wanted to like this place. Quaint Cornish pub, local colour, not a cookie cutter place like Premier Inn. What a let down. The room (# 5) was smaller than a cheap cruise ship cabin. Two small single beds. The only flat surface was the bedside table and anything that was placed on it rolled off onto the floor. I stored my suitcase under the bed. The bathroom was like something out of Dickens. The first day, the towel rack fell off the wall. It stayed in the exact same place on the floor for the 4 days of our stay. The bathroom door did not close or lock so you had better be on intimate terms with your roomie. The shower fixture was broken, as was the glass door. A glass shelf had fallen off the wall at some point. It was still missing even though one of the supports was still attached to the wall. The bathroom was not cleaned once. We stayed for 4 nights as we had pre-paid and on two of those nights there were fights in the bar. The last night, there was a party of very drunk golfers in the hotel. At 1 am one of them, locked out of his room, kicked the door in, cursed loudly and then urinated on someone's bedroom door. At breakfast the next day one of the other guests on our floor was vainly trying to get a refund from the management. We were glad to get out. My advice to anyone contemplating a stay at this hotel....sleep in your car!

Poor service, average to poor food, would not recommended this restaurant to others. Onion rings were especially greasy....would receive better in a chippy. The only decent meal was the moules Marnier. Kids meals expensive for what it was. Overall a disappointing experience. Will not return and would not recommended to others.

This is a good place to stay if you're looking for:
A pub that has live music that you can hear from your room.
Conversations between smokers drifting up to your room, even through a closed window, late into the night.
An overpriced meal that doesn't quite meet the menu description (but you've just witnessed the chef responding to a very polite query from a customer and that has put you off mentioning this fact).
A room that is surface clean only (with the added bonus of a not very clean teaspoon on your tray of drinks).
No teabags on said tray.
A bathroom that smells of damp.
Late afternoon / early evening staff who look like they would love their job if only they didn't have to deal with customers.

To be fair, the staff at breakfast were really friendly and the Full Cornish breakfast was delicious. The home made yogurt pots were fabulous too!

The bed was also very comfortable.

But, we won't be returning because, for us, those positives unfortunately didn't outweigh the negatives.

My husband and I went for dinner on a Monday night. We both wanted fish and chips. When it came after a 40 minute wait there was no apology, no cutlery and no condiments. I have to say that we were both ravenous by this point but it was the most disappointing fish and chips we’ve had for a long time. The smallest piece of fish ever, dry chips that were nothing special and the mint in the peas was just overpowering. Such a shame as it was a nice atmosphere but we wouldn’t eat there again.
