Description: From the banks of the Thames take the short trip up the winding hill to Bovingdon Green and the warm, wooden heart of award-winning The Royal Oak. Oak by name and oaken by nature - but not hard or austere: not a bit of it. Bare floorboards and ancient timbers ooze bonhomie, it feels like someone's home - it might as well be yours for the time you are there. Like old friends visiting for dinner, the welcome is easy and relaxed. It's journey's end.

We always bring our guests from overseas to The Royal Oak. Great food, buzzy atmosphere, lovely garden...and they are dog friendly which suits us. Easy to get to from Marlow and feels out in the country!

The Royal Oak offers a very good selection of unusual combinations of flavours and
tastes .There is a standard menu but specials supplement the offering which can
make it difficult as they are so appealing .We had the Moroccan fish stew ,pan -
roasted hake and the Ling ,all excellent - can also recommend the puddings .The local
real ale is very well kept and were complimentary to our main courses .The prices are very fair considering the Royal Oak is in the Marlow "triangle " .Another bonus dog
friendly pub with attentive service .

I first came to this restaurant about 20 years ago and it was impressie. Ownership changed and the quality went downhill. I came to the pub just for a quick meal and just to see if it was still as good. Its not the same Michelin star standard as it once was, but the meal, and service, was brilliant. You must try the Chicken and leek pie, but ask for a lot of gravvy!. The wines by the glass are of good quality and pricing. So its worth a try.

What a disappointment. I had heard great things about this restaurant, so was very interested to try it. I'm not a complainer, but was expecting far more. I went with a friend on Easter Sunday. The restaurant was busy and the staff are very friendly, but service was very slow. However, that could all have been forgiven had the food been better. Nothing wrong with a starter, then came the main course. We both had the roast beef. The potatoes were solid and dry, hardly any gravy to moisten them up. Not a waiter or waitress to be seen, and no one came over to see if we were happy or needed anything else. The portion size was very small. Considering how much was charged for this two course meal.We have had better food in other places for half the price.Such a shame as we have heard nothing but good comments about the Royal Oak. Sadly we will not be returning.Maybe we went on a bad day.

Nice if rather pretentious menu. Have had the bubble and squeak previously, wish I’d had it this time too.

Had the cocktail crayfish sliders.

Imagine a 1960s cold prawn cocktail in a sweet mini-bun without the lettuce! Not especially nice and had been expecting some kind of warm/hot crayfish pattie. Was quite disappointed. Won’t have that again!
