Late arrival from GLASGOW ,DUE SNOW IN BRISTOL. Check in at 23:00 and still "corks a pop in" , got swift info on what and where, and took our bubbly to a cold buffet in the dining room . Good spread with free water,no staff about but all that was needed. Lift to room 334 and unpacked !! Plenty of drawers hangers, enpty fridge, super shower, bed zzzzzzzzzzzz. Breakfast ,08;00 till10;30 was very good porridge to peaches, and a great sea view, pick your own table. Dinner started at 18;30 first sitting, and a table was allocated then for your stay. all drink went against the room and paid at departure. Mostly the week was sunny but windy,so we did three days on the sun beds and explored Nerja others. Would say, the beds were very clean and free towels from reception appreciated. To get to the pool level take the main lift to the-1 floor then left to far lift and down to -3 left and out passed toilets to pool and bar. This is also the route to the sea side walk,Locked gate and left or right all good. After dinner we went to the bar area for an hour or so,and seats no bother till about 8pm then pretty busy, waiter service great too. Stage music most nights, stay or go up to you. With the tv u get a card which says English programs start about ch45 ,try 40 onwards more there abouts!! Liked this hotel lots, all good ,no moans, staff on the ball. Nerja town is a wee gem and well worth a visit.Small lanes full of shops and cafes and then great views of mountais and cliffs and beaches..go there!!

Room Tip: 334 had side view of sea and street, and sunsets on the balcony.

We stayed here for 7 night in March . On first impression the hotel looks excellent with a modern contemporary interior . The bedrooms are a fair size with a modern contemporary feel .Bathrooms are well presented if smallish [ there was only a good sized shower in ours] . The public areas and areas were spotlessly clean . However all the glass, angular furniture and smooth hard surfaces gave the hotel a slightly clinical and cold air .

Staff at reception were friendly and efficient . The hotel has a comfortable bar/lounge with art deco style armchairs and tables [ . There was also some nightly entertainment - which wasn't not bad . The flamenco dancing night was the highlight .However there is no dance floor or anything like that .]

There is also a spa , a free gym and indoor and outdoor pools. A word of warning the access to the outdoor pool involves large number of steps so it wont suit everyone ] . The hotel is located on the beach front adjacent the promenade and all rooms seem to have some sort of sea view with a reasonable sized balcony [ although not large enough for sun loungers ] .There is also an outdoor bar located close to the promenade offering drinks/snacks & sea views where you can watch people walking by. There is limited free parking on front of the hotel but it does have a large car perk to the side [ fee payable ].

There are a couple of big downsides to this hotel .
First , the food / dining offer. The large dining room is not very intimate . It is has a regimented layout and an almost canteen feel to it - the many rather small tables are all lined up in rows on the grey tiled floor .They are also too closely spaced making circulation tricky . Out door dining options are limited and sea views from the dining room were fairly limited. [To be fair the weather when we were there it was too windy to eat outside at the hotel on the exposed terrace ]. You are allocated a table when you first arrive and are expected to use it each night . Fine if you like the allocated table position , less so if you don't .

The food in the main dining room is the usual self service buffet style offering . For most this wont be a problem but personally i prefer more authentic and flavoursome offer . Whilst superficially there is a fair choice of dishes, the food is typical of Spanish hotels - there is plenty of choice on the surface but in reality most of the dishes are rather tasteless and are not very exciting .The dining offer relies on salads and cold meat for staters ; for mains the choice tends to be limited to a choice of toughish cuts of meat , bland fried fish offerings , a stew plus overcooked vegetables [ including boiled rice or potatoes ] . Sweets are cold - portions of fruit , jelly , ice cream and small but bland pastries/cakes filled with confectioners cream etc . So far as I could see there weren't any expressly vegetarian dishes or dairy free items on offer .There was very little if any authentic spanish food on offer and even the paella [ only available on one night ] was bland and unexciting . Generally the food tends to be overcooked and lacking in flavour . [They did have themed evenings/menus e.g italian or French food but you'd be hard pressed to see much difference in the offer each night - if they hadn't announced it you would not have noticed ] .

There is also small a la carte restaurant which from reports of customers is apparently better [ 1 free night is available to all guests on half / full board ] but we weren't told about it and didn't use it so I cant comment on its quality - although I guess it is likely be a significant improvement over the main dining room experience.

Second the hotel is located in an exposed position in the town .This was a problem every day when we were there - the hotel seems to catch the wind and even magnify the prevailing wind speed . The hotel is pleasantly located by the beach/prom and it is also located quite close to the town centre ,[ about 5-10 minutes walk to shops/bars and the Balcon de Europa area, ] However, the hotel's location does seem to be very exposed to the wind and for the whole time we we there it was impossible to sit outside by the pool , the outside bar even when the sun was shining and even when the air temp was 16 -17 deg C . The wind near the hotel was very strong .

In contrast the small bars located opposite the hotel and in Nerja centre were far more sheltered and it was possible sit out without there being much wind at all - however as soon as you got back to the hotel the strong winds became apparent again . The Hotel does have an internal open 'courtyard' area where you could in theory sit outside and be sheltered from the wind , however despite this open atrium area being fully enclosed by the hotel building on all sides it was still very windy and exposed. Consequently both this area, the outside bar and the pool area were almost totally deserted the whole time we were there. Notably this was in contrast with the outdoor seating in the small bar s and .cafess opposite as well as the more distant the open sitting areas/bars/cafes elsewhere in the town, including the beach area near the Balcon de Europa ].

To be fair the exposed position of the hotel might not matter much in the summer months [ indeed some might welcome a strong breeze ] but in my opinion it renders the hotel far less appealing for a winter or early spring break especially if there is likely to be any sort of wind . I would not return to this particular Nerja hotel [out of season] for this reason alone - it was simply too windy and too exposed to the elements. A pity as the hotel is well presented and reasonable value for money.

Room Tip: All rooms have sea view. East facing have morning sun and west afternoon sun.. Higher rooms have best views & are less noisy .

This was our second visit to this hotel and the first time since the renovation and it's been done really well nice clean lines, bright and spacious I especially like the lobby area lots of lovely comfy sofas and seats to sit and read or chill.
The food is always tasty with plenty of choice even for the most fussy eaters and they have certain food nights from different regions which is a good way of trying something different. The rooms are spacious, clean, a good size bathroom with walk in shower and a roomy balcony, our room had a sofa in it as well and a good size tv on the wall. The staff are friendly and helpful especially the bar staff also the entertainment is varied for all tastes. There is a large sunbed area with a large pool and to the side of the hotel is a garden area if you prefer a quieter place to sunbathe. I wouldn't hesitate staying in this hotel if I was travelling on my own it's perfect for either couples or singletons. Nerja is a nice quaint place to visit with lots of picturesque places to sit and chill.

Room Tip: A room higher up maybe a bit quieter it's not a noisy hotel

It is a well run hotel with good amenities. Our rooms were big and the bathroom was well appointed with plenty of room on a shelf and a good shower. There is good free WiFi throughout the hotel. There is a safe in the room, but you have to pay extra. Breakfast and Dinner is buffet style with a large choice for all courses. However, some of the food was not freshly cooked. The dining room was very busy. There is an alternative small Spanish restaurant down by the pool, which we tried one night. It would be a nice place to go in the summer, but not so good to get to it outside while it was wet and windy. The food was a bit disappointing, but there was no extra charge.

The hotel has an indoor and outdoor pool, but we did not use either as the weather was not suitable.
I did have a massage at the hotel, but the massage therapist is not there every day and not for many hours. She has a very nice relaxing room.

Room Tip: Many rooms have a partial view of the sea, as one block is at right angles to the beach.
