Very small, but nice city Maro. Booked hotel as we should start tracking at mountains next day.
Cozy ambience, nice staff and ok rooms.
Great location, good restaurant by hotel.
Bit noice, as there was festival in the city during our stay.

Lovely salads in a small rustic ambience. Alioli however was bought in a large catering bottle. Didn’t waste the lovely food flavours. Good shade on terrace in nice Maro village setting. Located in town uphill from beach.

We have stayed here twice both times out of season. Accomodation is basic but adequate and clean. Value for money and food very good. Rates seem on high side for main season but if you are looking for a good deal out of season and want a quiet hotel in a small village away from Nerja would recommend this one. Maro is quiet place and pleasant enough despite the local habit of turning the dogs out and letting them mess so tourists can tread in it. Bizarre lack of consideration. Apart from that no problems.

Excellent holiday, Nerja is marvellous. Hotel Playamaro very clean, very helpful staff, comfortable beds, lovely view, excellent aircon. Maro is a lovely village & we had a hire car to get into Nerja. Parking at Maro beach car park 100yards downhill ( nowhere near the beach!). However there was no fridge or kettle in the room & couldn't get Wifi to work in the annexe. Breakfast was rather limited - we bought a kettle for coffee in our room. The room was described as "promo" by "On the Beach" which didn't correspond with anything that the hotel published, so it was difficult to work out in advance what we had booked. Happy to return again.

The good stuff; staff very friendly. Rooms cleaned daily to a high standard. Bed comfy. Air con works. Can eat meals outside under a canopy.

The not so good stuff; as others have said there is no pool. Or rather there is, but no water in it. They are not working on it either. There hasn't been a pool for years so false advertising. There is nowhere to sit outside other than the restaurant - no comfy chairs, sun loungers etc. Balconies are tiny, can't really sit on them. Breakfast okay, half board menu repetitive and bland. Tv if you need it, find a usa film or programme that has been dubbed into spanish then press audio and move up to qua. It will revert to English.

Maro; the beach is a long walk down a steep hill, no fun walking back up in full sun. However it has toilets, shower, sun loungers and umbrellas to hire at €10 per couple, a snack bar and a restaurant. The village is tiny and VERY quiet. There really isn't anything to do. 3 little stores - all closed on Sundays. 3 other bars serving meals, a pharmacy and a church. That's it. Kids would be bored to death. Around an hours walk, or €1.16 on the bus to Nerja (hard to get a bus back, none of ours turned up) which is lovely. The caves are a 10 minute walk (motorway overpass one street up and you're there) and are amazing. €10 euros in, go early to avoid the queues.
We would return to Nerja but not to Maro. We like quiet, but not this quiet! The beach is too far and the hotel really suffers from not having the pool.
