We spent St Patricks Week End in this wonderful hotel, room was great big and spotlessly clean as was the bathroom. Plenty of towels and these were replaced when we went for breakfast the next morning. We loved the balcony and the weather was pleasantly mild to sit and watch the world go by. Receptionist was very helpful with suggestions on site to visit and things to do. Breakfast was great wonderful buffet as well a great selection from menu. Dinner was equally good and the atmosphere at the hotel in the evenings was very welcoming warm and friendly. This hotel is well worth a visit and we will return.

Room Tip: if we continue to have weather like this, get a room with a balcony, great for the good weather

Dear corky1979

Thanks for your nice review - glad you enjoyed it - not sure where you saw the breakfast buffet as we don't have one but no worries. Look forward to welcoming you back soon.

We spend our first night here on ten day trip to Ireland, driving down from Dublin. THe setting is spectacular, and the rooms were very comfortable, looking-out over the water. Our room had a fireplace, and we enjoyed sitting watching the water, drinking a cocktail, unwinding before dinner in the hotel restaurant...which itself was very good, indeed. The hotel layout can be a little confusing, with a couple of different elevators to get to all the rooms...but that's because each room is on the hillside, taking advantage of the views. I thought it was delightful. And a nice-size bathroom with an excellent shower is another plus after a long day of traveling.

Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs, or get lost easily, say something, and get a room closer to the lob...

We stayed in the Cliff House for three nights for a special occasion. Right from the start it could not have been better. The welcome at reception and from the concierge was very informative and efficient. We stayed in a room with a balcony and it was worth spending the bit extra to get the balcony. The room has a lovely view of Ardmore Bay. The room is a nice size and well appointed with a stereo and all tv channels comfortable bed and furniture. The bathroom is impressive with a large shower and seperate free standing bath. The room was so cosey we didn't want to leave.

We dined in the bar for lunch and two dinners. All meals were delicious and fresh. The menu does not have a huge selection but the quality is superb. The service was always friendly and efficient. There is a somwhat formal atmosphere in the bar for evening dinner and there wasn't much life apart from people quietly dining and then appearing to return to their rooms. We had room service breakfast each day and it was fresh, hot and tastey with a great selection. We dined in the House Restaurant one night and I have to say I have never experienced food like it. The quality and flavour was superb. It is definitely for foodies and people who enjoy fine dining. The service was exceptional and all staff were professional and friendly. They took the time to explain all our meal choices and make the experience all the more fun and memorable.

We enjoyed some treatments in the spa. Again the staff were professional and courteous. The treatment rooms were slightly clinical compared to other spas but the treatments were fabulous. The changing area and pool area are spotless and relaxing.

We enjoyed some lovely walks in the area including the cliff walk and Ardmore beach. It was very relaxing. Ardmore itself is very quiet this time of year. There actually wasn't anywhere else open but this is the off season.

All in all we had a wonderful relaxing break at the Cliff House. It would have been nice to have a little bit more life in the evening in the bar but I am merely picking holes. All staff pull out the stops to make your stay truly relaxing and superb quality without infringing on your privacy. I would recommend the Cliff House for a relaxing break away from it all or special occasions. We left relaxed and rejuvenated and would return in the morning.

Room Tip: A balcony is worth spending extra for.

After a very stressful week, my partner and I travelled to The Cliff House Hotel in Ardmore, from the very minute we walked in the door, I could feel the stress melt away. We were greeted by very friendly efficient staff, shown to our room, it was clear from the decor of the room, the owner and his architect opted for high quality irish goods when furbishing instead of opting for cheap crates of furniture from China. Our bed was adorned with a throw from Donegal Tweed Co. and bathroom was exquisite. Our meal in the bar, which we opted for instead of the restaurant was very good, my only criticism here was the cost of our pre dinner drinks of a pint of heineken and a g & t costing €14.75, I felt this was expensive. We availed of treatments in the spa and the experience once again was 5*. This hotel is 5* in an informal unfussy way and gives wonderful service in a magnificient setting. My only dilemna is when can I get to go back.

Stayed here as a surprise from my hubby. Hotel and staff are second to none and we even got a free upgrade to a gorgeous suite. But I wasn't too keen on the food. Felt a lot of fuss was made, every course had som dehydrated food of some sort and edible flowers. More for the eye rather than the pallet. Also very angry chef who shouted and yelled the whole way through our meal at staff - which we could clearly hear from our table. But the pool and outside jacuzzi are gorgeous. Looking out at the sea is very calming. Breakfast was a change from the dinner and one of our fave parts. We also did the cliff walk which is highly recommend.

Will certainly be back for another stay.

Ps take advantage of the hunter boots located around the hotel for you to use on the walks.
