So the table was booked well in advance so it would be expected that the restaurant would have an adequate number of staff on!
Nice place to look at. Service was very poor. Good order taken before drinks order. Drinks didn't arrive until after our starters had been cleared. House wine leave a lot to be desired and their use of cheap vodka is unforgivable.
Food was beautifully presented but there was such an overload of flavours on the plate it was difficult to enjoy. Duck was cooked medium which I like because it leaves it tender but it was tough. Skin is usually nice if crisped a bit but this looked like it had been boiled, white and soggy. Accompanying potatoes and seasonal vegetables looked lovely but were so loaded with butter they weren't pleasant to eat.
No one offered a second round of drunk order so we had to ask for this, we were just finishing our mains. Order was taken but did not reach our table until after the desert and coffee had been served. As soon as we had finished eating we were presented with the bill. No one said we were ready for it! On to the bar for a quiet drink and a chat. But that wasn't to be as one of the waiters constantly rang a bell whilst walking around the seating area. On top of that a tannoy requesting that wedding guests return to the wedding. The bell was apparently to encourage them to leave the bar area. So we had moved from the restaurant to the bar had one drink and were told we would have to move again. We did this into a cramped lobby!
Lovely setting but they need to get the food right for the prices thy charge and maybe concentrate on waiting the table in the correct way. Also I would recommend they lose the awful bell and tannoy. It was like sitting at the train station.
