I was staying with a walking group of 16, and we all really enjoyed our stay in Brannens. The room was way above my expectation, and I would give it 4.9 out of 5 stars for its comfort, decor and extra touches. The ONLY thing missing to my mind is a heater in the en suite. Even in May, it was still a cold experience stepping out of the shower. But this was outweighed by all the other positives: lots of good quality towels; plenty of hangers; and even a magnifying mirror near the sink.

Room tip: Ask for a room at the back of the house, away from the noise of the street

Just back from a weekend in Newport. We stayed in Brannens for two nights. A recently renovated guest house, the rooms were super fresh and clean and the bed was so comfy with luxurious pillows and duvet. Room had an ensuite that was really well sized with a super powerful shower, exactly what you need after a day of cycling. Homemade breakfast each morning by John powered us up for our activities!

Big thanks to John and his team who looked after us so well!

Will be back soon!

Great place to stay in non-touristy, real Ireland Newport. Westport was booked solid for the weekend so I stayed in Newport at this B&B and was very happy with the accommodations. 50E for a single. Modern rooms over a pub but quiet, friendly owners and staff, strong wifi, TV, and a great breakfast. A lot of hikers and walkers stay here as the owners are active and expert in that area. This is a great town to base from if wanting to visit Achill Island for a day which I recommend. The Grainne Uaile at the bottom of Main Street is an excellent pub with good food, music and friendly owners and locals.

Room tip: All rooms are large and bright. Not a view B&B.
