Oak Lodge B&B is less than 1 minute walk from Portumna's main street. Mary, our host, exemplified typical Irish hospitality - she was very friendly, helpful and enjoyed a good chat! We had our German Shepherd with us and she allowed us to switch rooms such that we were closer to the back door should we need to bring our dog out. The B&B itself is extremely clean with ample parking and nice decor. Mary also encourages guests to have a cup of tea or coffee for themselves during the day in the dining room. This was great as it facilitates a some chats and banter amongst other guests, while observing social distancing of course! The Full Irish breakfasts were quality as was the fresh cafetiere coffee each morning all of which got us well past lunchtime during the day. Mary also advised on what we could go and see including a local art exhibit, forest walks along Lough Derg, the local castle and she even booked us in for a tour of Portumna's (in)famous Workhouse which was an excellent history lesson and contained a bonus - an exceedingly exceptional hand carved bog oak famine exhibit. Overall, we had a great time - Oak Lodge B&B was centrally located, clean, dog friendly, great value for money and all with a lovely host therefore highly recommended!

Room tip: This house is a complete B&B with the host living next door. A dining room / kitchen at the centre connects front and rear rooms.

This is THE place to stay if in the central Shannon area. Our hostess, Mary was the best we had in many years of trips to Ireland. The Lodge is clean and vibrant, all new fixtures. Food was great as well.

Mary From Oaklodge was a fantastic host for our few days in Portumna. From the moment we arrived it was like home away from home. She was so helpful, caring and compassionate when we needed some assistance after my husband had a fall when on holiday from Australia on a boat on the Shannon River. Nothing was too much trouble for her. Oak Lodge is a delightful, clean, comfortable and homely B & B, very conveniently located in Portumna. We highly recommend it. Thank you so much Mary and PJ, for making us feel so welcome and for everything you did for us. Staying at Oaklodge was a real highlight of our visit to Ireland.

Stayed at Oaklodge for 2 nights and wished we had stayed longer. Gorgeous B&B, spotlessly clean, food was wonderful and the owners and their lovely Daughter couldn't do enough for us. Definitely be visiting again

The other reviews say it all: Mary is an astonishing host and makes everyone feel right at home. If you like Irish humor, PJ (Mary's partner) is a lovely co-host. Thank you for the lovely time staying at your B&B during our riding holiday at Flower Hill.
