Owner description: 45 minutes from Cork city and you will be transported on an exclusive historical natural visitor experience. A charming 10-seater passenger ferry 'Yassy' and a local guide will transport you to the previously inaccessible island; up the steep grassy incline to the summit and inside the black tower and onto the lantern balcony. Only goats live on the island.. sometimes they come and say hello!

This was a great trip involving the excitement of a boat trip across to the island with a mix of nature, history, engineering and man's association with the Sea. Our guide Peter filled our visit with interesting anecdotes about the lives of the former lighthouse keepers. It was a memorable experience on a lovely sunny day!

Derry took us out on a blustery day, well worth it. Especially if you've never seen Ballycotton from the sea. Lots of history but also stories on wildlife, islands etc. Well worth the trip to Ballycotton.

We did this tour on the advice of trip advisor. Couldn't fault it! Our tour guide Eddie was a wealth of knowledge (an ex-lighthouse keeper at Ballycotton). His passion for the island and lighthouse was inspiring and wonderful to listen to. The island itself was beautiful with 360degree views. Quick boat ride over and bit of a walk up the hill to the top but well worth it. We had an overcast day but it didn't ruin the trip at all. Trip lasting about 90min. Only €20 and worth every cent. Highly recommend!

We took this boat trip as my husband's great grandfather was one of the lighthouse keepers on the island in 1901. It was a fantastic experience and one not to be missed when visiting Ballycotton. Our guide himself an ex Ballycotton lighthouse keeper was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, informative, funny and interesting. We went with 4 children aged between 8-12 yrs and they all enjoyed themselves. This trip was very good value for money and worth going to.

Did this tour with a 5 & 3 yr old. This tour had a bit of everything for them, from the boat trip out to the island to the climbing of the lighthouse steps to the view at the top. These were just as exciting for us adults but we had the added advantage of hearing all the history and stories from our excellent guide , Derry. This tour is very very good and a great way to spend a portion of a day, especially when it is sunny. While our 5 yr old loved it, the 3 yr old was probably on the young side to truly understand and appreciate it all. Still saying that, I would do it all over again without question.
