“quaint waterfront!”
Reviewed 17 June 2011

i really like gythion. it has a picturesque waterfront and great restaurants with really fresh seafood....really you can see the octopus drying in the sun then being taken to the restaurants! the tower is a nice historic addition and there are a couple nice art shops where you can buy original work and chat iwth the artist. but my favorite thing to do is just get an ice cream (there is an ice cream parlor toward the tower end of the waterfront with greek ice cream) and stroll along the water soaking up the sun and atmosphere of this lovely place.

“Interesting place in the Peloponnese”
Reviewed 16 June 2011

Gythio is not only a nice place, it also has interesting attractions.
One is the ancient theatre at he northern end of the town.
The other is the peninsula Kranai in the south with the small fortress of Zanetbey Grigorakis.

“Romantic place to visit”
Reviewed 2 November 2010

OK I must warn you that the here dump their rubbish in a park right in the centre of town and at both ends of it, on the main roads. But if you ignore that, this is a great place to visit and very romantic.

A great marina area with very fine yachts that are great to walk by especially under a moon light night.

A long series of sensational water side restaurants where, at one, we ate the very best calamari ever. And I normally hate the stuff, but not at this one.

A superb swimming beach only minutes by car away or a reasonable walk - great to lose weight put on by enjoying the brilliant sweets they "force" you to eat.

We stayed in a rented room owned by a local on the advice of the bus station lady and it was very economical in every sense, except when we return we will bring our own towels and a hair dryer.
