“Beautiful, fascinating, and fun... but not the place for a "relaxing" stay.”
Reviewed 27 February 2012

Had a great time on a quick overnight stay that included the ghost tour and the Sunday brunch. The history of the hotel is absolutely fascinating, and I enjoy just being in the building more than anything. I had been to the Crescent a number of times but this was my first stay. I must say, the room was a pleasant surprise.

The staff was friendly and very helpful. We had several offers to help us to our room with luggage. Our second floor room appeared to have been fairly recently remodeled but retained it's victorian era charm. The carpet was new and in good condition, the bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom was large and clean. A window unit provided heat and air and kept the room comfortable.

While our experience was a lot of fun, I would not recommend the hotel to someone wishing to have a quiet, relaxing stay. Our room was on the second floor directly above the Crystal Dining Room, and a party was in progress. The music was extremely loud, to the point you could feel the vibrations when you were laying on the bed, and it continued until just after midnight. Good thing we didn't want to go to bed early. Aside from that, there constantly are guests and visitors roaming the halls talking loudly and taking pictures. All hallway sound easily penetrates through and around the antique doors. If there are guests above you, you will hear every step they take. This isn't a criticism, as I understand the hotel is 126 years old, so that is to be expected. Just pointing it out.

The ghost tour is fun. It was my second time on the tour, and it has greatly improved over my previous trip in 2008. It's informative and gives you a look at some areas you otherwise wouldn't get to see. Sunday brunch was just ok. Fortunately it was included in our stay, because I don't think it's worth the standard $25 price.

All in all, a very fun experience, and I would like to stay again some time.

Room Tip: Might want to avoid the 2nd floor rooms above the Crystal Dining Room due to the noise from below...

Thank you for your review. Thank you for understanding that the hotel is ancient and has some downside to go with it. It has been know to be loud at times but this is noted and we will do our best in the future to keep noises down that are possible. Thank you for the review on the ghost tour, improvement is always nice to hear. Thank you again for your review and we look forward to seeing you on your next visit.

Went on a quick overnight get-away. We stayed on the 4th floor and the elevator was not working, but they were working to replace it. The hotel is old and the floors are uneven and creaking, but it adds to the charm of the old building. We did the ghost tour and had a really good time. My husband doesn't usually go for the that kind of thing, but he enjoyed it. We were given a Sunday Brunch with the price of the room, and both enjoyed that also. It is a charming old building in a truly incredible location. We would go back again in a heartbeat!

Room Tip: Choose a king room. The other rooms looked small.

We didn't stay at the hotel...we were here on the ghost tour. We had 4 couples in our group and we went on the 7:30 tour. The tour was alot of fun even though we didn't see anything out of the ordinary...but we didn't really expect to either. It was an entertaing tour and history of the hotel. Our tour guide was very nice although I wish she would have elaborated a little on the hotel itself. She was new though so I'm sure she was still learning a little. We did have a funny experience before the tour started. All the girls in our group went to use the restroom as did the guys in our group...not knowing there were bathrooms upstairs we went to the downstair ones. The guys said the motion activated towel dispenser kept going off even though they were no where near it and one of the girls in our group had the door of the bathroom come open before she unlatched it. Thinking the door just wasn't latched well and that there must be something triggering the towel dispenser we laughed about it. At the start of our tour our guide told us the downstair bathrooms are thought to be haunted, lol. Who knows really but it's a funny story now. I thought this tour might be scary but it wasn't at all...it ended up being a really fun tour for all of us. I would recommend it at least once.

Tips: Buy your tickets early! We wanted the 9:00 tour but it was sold out and we were there to buy our tickets at 1:00. Take your camera...it made it so much fun to try and see what we could capture on film;) Finally, talk to your guide! We had fun asking questions and she seemed to enjoy answering them! She told us afterward that we had made the tour alot of fun=)

We visit the Crescent Hotel as much as possible each year....we were married at the hotel in 2011. It will always be a special place for us. We love the historic decor throughout the hotel and all of the wonderful memories it holds from years past.
The grounds of thehotel are beautiful as well. We always enjoy staying in the King Balcony Suite, King Parlor Balcony Suite, the Govenor's Suite and the Penthouse....all of our favorites!

This was my first time in Eureka Springs. Great, private location. Rooms were clean and comfortable with adequate amenities. A certain female working the bar upstairs was less than helpful, unfriendly, and served us a most disgusting pizza that seemed only half-cooked. The lady at the front desk of the spa was also unfriendly and borderline rude. All other staff were nice and willing to help. We enjoyed the Ghost Tour and our guide with the top hat was both enthusiastic and friendly. Overall, I would stay at the Crescent Hotel again...I'd probably just avoid the upstairs bar and the spa.

Thank you for your reviews. We are very glad you enjoyed the hotel amenities and look forward to having you back. We apologize for the not so friendly staff in the spa and in the bistro. These times are noted and will be taken care of in the future. We look forward to trying to change your opinions of the entire hotel in your future visits.
