We were expecting old house and rooms, but hotel was totally different building! Room was nice, clean and beds were good. Breakfast was worth the money in Manor house with lovely view. Spa was really small, with no attractions for children.

We had a work seminar in the Heikkonen mansion. The seminar proved to be very efffective since the beautiful surroundings and good service and tasty food. Later one could enjoy the spa area and have some high quality treatments. Perfect, I would say.

Very nice and beautiful place to stay, not so cheap basic room was 132€ per night but that include parking, breakfast and free entry to spa. Place and surroundings is beautiful and service is very good. One of best breakfast what i have seen. Spa was small but nice and that estate is beautiful!

One one hand, this hotel lies beautifully by the sea, a perfect driving distance from Helsinki. The Manor and Villa Haikko are a sight for sore eyes. Parking is free and it's easy to go by car to the city of Porvoo which is worth a visit. The spa is kept clean and fresh and seems newly renovated.
On the other hand, you probably don't get to stay in the Manor house unless you book that specifically. You stay in a dated building from the eighties with small, un-airconditioned rooms. The hotel is oddly planned. I stayed in two different rooms during my stay (one night in a single, one night in a double, two separate bookings), and before I even got to my room on day one I was sick of the building layout. There's one elevator which is slow and occupied. Then there are staircases. And they put us in the basement for one night, which meant stairs, stairs, stairs.... You have to walk two different staircases to get to the spa, first up, then down again, throgh the reception. You also have to leave the building in the morning to have breakfast at the Manor. Breakfast was absolutely not what we expected, really boring with few choices. Also had dinner there, which I can't recommend either.
During my stay with friends we came up with so many things Haikko could do better, that we joked about handing in a list of suggestions at the end of our stay.
(1. Chop down trees! There's no view left! 2. This is a spa hotel. Where are we supposed to dry our bathrobes and towels? in the wardrobe? There's no place for them! and so on)
Staying in the hotel is expensive and I'm not sure it was worth it. It's not bad, but not good either. It's not what one expects. Left dissapointed.
You could swing by to have a coffee at the Manor house terrace, though.

Dear Fridolina,

Thank you for your stay detailed review.
We have 6 different room types, 3 of them in the Manor House. Room shapes and sizes vary accordingly: we have air-conditioned superior and deluxe rooms in the Spa hotel. Deluxe rooms are 42 m2 so one really can’t call them small.
The architecture of the spa and congress hotel dates back to 1970’ies and 1980’ies but inside we are intensively renovating our facilities, like our spa which you apparently liked. We regret if the building layout upsets you: as the hotel was built in various parts and on different decades it was very difficult to avoid this complexity.

You joked about handing in a list of suggestions at the end of your stay – we’d loved to get that list as all comments help us to improve our services and develop our products. To give you an answer for those ones you wrote down:
1) Trees cannot be chopped down very easily in a protected landscape park which is part of National Urban Park program (http://www.ym.fi/fi-FI/Luonto/Luonnon_monimuotoisuus/Luonnonsuojelualueet/Kansalliset_kaupunkipuistot) .
2) Swimsuits can be dried quickly and efficiently in the swimsuit dryer machine located in the Spa Lounge. Most of our rooms have a drying radiator in the bathroom but wet bathrobes and towels can also be changed into dry ones at the Spa Lounge counter.

We apologize all possible inconvenience caused and hope that we can exceed your expectations on your next visit to Haikko Manor & Spa!

The surroundings and the old manor house are truly beautiful. The so called congress hotel building, on the other hand, seen its best days. Overpriced, since the rooms and public areas in the congress building are more of a basic motel standard than that of a four star hotel. Dinner in the manor restaurant very good. Breakfast ok. Friendly and helpful staff.
