We spent 3 lovely nights at Cabinas Pura Vida. There seems to be 2 types of accommodations in Drake - the very expensive all-inclusive lodges outside of town and everything else. The town is set off the beach with restaurants, a few grocery stores and guest houses/hostels on the steep, winding dusty roads.
CPV is a bit up the hill but the owner, Norlyn, picked us up as promised on the beach to help with our luggage. He also kindly ran us up and down for the 2 excursions (park tour & snorkeling) that we booked through him.
The communication with Norlyn was great and his English is perfect. Clearly a long timelocal, he seems to know everyone and everything in town and was a great help getting us quickly acclimated to Drake.
The included breakfasts were simple & good. The coffee was awesome. The room was simple but perfect for our stay. The AC & Wifi worked great. No TV but we listened to the ipod and chatted - perfect for the spot off the beaten track!
Drake Bay is a simple place and not fancy - you are going for the wild life and the adventure. Cabinas Pura Vida fits that model well and for the price, it was well worth it. We were grateful for the chance to see this beautiful place and the hospitality of Norlyn & Gabby.More
