We stayed at La Palapa for 3 nights as a base for exploring Manuel Antonio and the beaches around Dominical. The hotel is quite far from Quepos, however this means that it is very peaceful and the surrounding area is beautiful forest. The grounds are wonderful as was the room (although a mosquito net would be appreciated). The bed was comfortable and the shower was excellent. They have their own private hike to a waterfall - whilst the waterfall itself isn’t spectacular, the private hike is wonderful as it really feels as though you are walking through the jungle (without the hordes of tourists!). Breakfast was ok, although service was slow and there were no options, with the same menu served every morning. Reception also appeared to be unstaffed the majority of the time which made check-out or getting information difficult.
Overall, a fantastic base for exploring the central Pacific coast!More
