My husband and I recently completed the “Towards the Algarve” road bike tour. All aspects of the trip were excellent. We were promptly picked up at our starting point in Lisbon as well as our final destination in Lagos. All of our biking equipment including the touring bikes themselves was in tip top shape. We were on a self guided tour and had only one time of significant GPS difficulty. The hotels were really lovely as were the breakfast buffets that began each day. Portugal is such an amazing country in so many ways from its rich history of discoverers to its breathtakingly rugged ocean coast. We plan on returning to Portugal to spend more time in Sagres and Lagos...maybe for a more leisurely visit to admire the beaches.

The five days of cycling covers almost 200 miles and is rated as a 3.2 on a five point scale. I think it is a 4 but that may be influenced by our biking abilities and the fact that our longest day of biking was unfortunately affected by inclement weather (a lot of wind and rain). If we could “redo the trip”, we would love to have had an extra day in Both Sagres as well as Lagos.
