This has happened to me more than once at different Phoenix Hampton locations.
I reserve in advance and prepay for a budget level room, usually a room with 2 queen size beds. I arrive on weekdays because my trips are for business. I arrive there a little earlier than its stated check-in time, and the front desk person states that there are no rooms available at my price range, but if I wanted to upgrade for $18.00/$19.00 more, they just happen to have an open room. I find this very suspicious as first of all
it is a weekday, the parking lot has only 3 or 4 cars parked in it, and I see no crowds
of people anywhere in the lobby. When I leave and arrive an hour after the stated check-in time, the room given to me has a musty odor, like it hasn't been occupied, the power cord on the AC/furnace unit is unplugged, like it hadn't been used in a while, and the clock radio is set back an hour; it is not even in the current time. This gives me the feeling that this room was available all along, but they were trying to
make me pay more by trying to get me to upgrade. I just wonder if this has happened to anyone else.More
