Authentic, cool graffiti art on the building, great service! Fish was tasty and subtle. Flan and churros fresh and out of this world.

Not the Mexican food I'm used to but it was good. The house margarita knocked me on my butt! I had chicken poblano and it needed salt. My smashed potatoes were not warm enough but tasted good. I'd go back and recommend to friends. Loud atmosphere for a Sunday night. Our waiter was kind and apologized for the wait. Food came promptly. Next time I will try the guacamole and chips.
Four of us came here on a Sunday afternoon and had a 30 minute wait. We ordered fish tacos and the mango salad. The tacos came with a nice salad with a delicious dressing and were halibut.
At $13 they were a good value. On the other hand the salad was quite disappointing. It was thinking slices of avocado and mango with red onion. The onions were too strong for the delicate flavors of the other ingredients. Three grilled shrimp were in the center of the spiral salad. At $16 I felt it was overpriced and underwhelming. The waiter forgot to bring the bread and dip and we didn't realize it until after dinner was finished. We would not go back.
Always ready to try something new, and especially Mexican, we went to Barrio Cafe on a Saturday evening before the theatre. We were very fortunate to get in right away. They have a good Arizona craft beer selection, 12 varieties and the Margarita was perfect. We ordered three tacos to share that came with a complimentary side. The kitchen split the house salad for us, which was very appreciated. The chipotle cherry beef taco was absolutely outstanding, delicious! The other two tacos, we're not as flavourful, hence the three rating. The chicken taco was very bland, and the shrimp taco could do with a few more shrimp. Barrio Cafe is good value and a fun place to go.
My husband and I ate here on a Friday night at about 9:00, so luckily there was no wait time. There was live music and a good mix of people, from families to couples on first dates. As I was the designated driver, I had the house-made agua limon, which was so refreshing and tasty, I was not jealous of my husband's margarita at all! They gave us a starter of bread and some kind of spread with peppers in it that was so delicious, definitely different from the usual chips and salsa. We ordered enchiladas and carne asada tacos, which were not so filling that we did not have room for dessert. Luckily we did, because the churros and tres leches cake were awesome. I'm definitely glad that we chose this place!
