I won´t recommend this company. They are overcharging for what they deliver and it is clearly such a cash cow that they don´t care anymore how many people subsribe to one of their walks. Also the time spend on the boat or on the glacier (minitrip) is too short for the money. Yes they are the only company doing walks on the glacier (therefore Monopolistic behaviour)... but with the staff they got it is not worth it.
I Have heard in El Calten they do glacier walks too. I am going to investigate those!

The Big Ice tour was extremely fun and enjoyable. As advertised, we spent about 4 hours on the ice. Despite a large initial group, the group was split between multiple guides such that there were approximately 10 guests for two guides. Our main guide spoke excellent English, and was quite relaxed and capable leading us around the glacier. She and a second guide assisted our group as necessary on "tougher" glacier terrain, ensuring that everyone was comfortable and the group could stay together. The experience allowed us to go at least a mile into the glacier, where the ice was amazing and pure. On the boat ride back from the glacier they gave us whiskey with glacier ice and cookies -- a nice touch.

During the beginning/end of our time on the ice we saw the well-trodden route of the mini-trekking tour, and my husband and I were both quite pleased that we had decided to go with the Big Ice tour. Barring any age or physical limitations, I would highly recommend going with the Big Ice tour versus the Mini-Trekking tour. We had briefly debated which tour to go on prior to booking the Big Ice tour (which, I should note, we did through our hostel, not the office in El Calafate), and were pleased with our decision to go with the Big Ice tour despite its expense -- we both agree that we would have been disappointed by the Mini-Trekking tour's limited scope and visibly larger group size. If you are steady on your feet and comfortable hiking on moderate terrain for a few hours, the Big Ice tour should be something you will enjoy as well.

I went on the minitrek 1/2 day glacier walk excursion and thought it was really well done. The guides were very friendly and interested in talking with us and very knowledgeable about the glacier. The hike wasn't dufficult but they were attentive and concerned for our safety the whole time. After 1 1/2 hours trekking in the ice the day ended with some scotch and cookies on top of the glacier! Nice touch! The views were great and for someone who just wanted a taste of ice trekking it was perfect! I would highly recommend it!

We wanted to walk on the glacier. Hielo y Aventura is the only agency offering this service on the Perito Moreno. Prices have doubled in one year. Service is very bad and unprofesional. They take clients as fools.
We advice you to go rather to el Chalten (3 hours bus) where you can do various treks on glaciers around the Fitz Roy.

Hielo y Adventura unfairly take advantage of the a monopoly they hold on the Perito Moreno trek and by continually raising pricess of their tours. This is probably also why many say that their tours are overcrowded and they feel as if they are beingrushed through.

After researching on the internet I found that most people paid $435 in 2008 (including transfer) for the Big Ice Tour. When I emailed Hielo y Adventura, they had already raised the price to $650 pesos (w/o transfer fees). When I asked them if they had raised the prices since 2008, they provided no explanation and simply wrote back: "The price is $650. If you want to pay less go somewhere else." This type of disregard for customers and free reign on price hikes is due to their unfair monopoly in Calafate.

Personally, I will not support this type of business practice and would much rather do a much cheaper and less crowded glacier hike on Viedma in near by Chalten.
