We visited Bariloche for the second time on our way back from Patagonia. This time we wanted to stay at a hotel away from the city center and where we could go for walks and experience the mountains and more secluded natural surroundings. We got exactly what we wanted. We felt in love with the Aldebaran hotel at first sight! The hotel has been designed in the style of a grand house. The entrance drive takes you through a tall stone arch and a gravel driveway with beautiful bougainvilleas and tall trees framing the main door. The interior of the hotel is tastefully decorated with sculptures and paintings and beautiful confortable furniture and even has a stone fireplace. The bedrooms are crispy clean, have timber floors and are spacious with comfortable beds and beautiful soft cotton bedding. Our twin room had it’s own balcony overlooking the lake and an ample on-suit bathroom with all necessary bathroom amenities. We did not get to use the heated swimming pool, instead we went for walks and used the hotel timber jetty for morning yoga practice. The hotel also has a restaurant that provided us with delicious meals. The staff was always very attentive to our needs and made our stay extra special. We felt so comfortable at the hotel that instead of our initial two nights, we stayed five. It was our first visit to Aldebaran Hotel and we certainly hope to be back soon.

This is a unique, hidden gem in Bariloche. Spacious rooms, thoughtfully decorated common areas and an excellent restaurant. We stayed two nights and enjoyed good food, evenings by the fire, impressive lake and mountain views, and, most importantly, welcoming and helpful hospitality. The staff was always willing to give us hiking tips or any sort of information we needed to enrich our stay in Patagonia. Well worth the unpaved roads to get there. Muchísimas gracias y volveremos pronto!

It’s so unique and lovely and I will add, very romantic even though I was traveling with my friend. Amazing views, out in the country removed from town. A wonderful downstairs area that makes you want to curl up with a book and a glass of wine. A beautiful little hotel. A big room too. An apartment really. Very helpful service. An excellent breakfast. Comfy beds, a great shower. Clean. Such a nice stay. Remote...so be prepared for that.

Things they could improve...the bathroom lighting is god awful. But that’s the same in most hotels it seems. There’s no temp control in the room. We had a lot of trouble getting it comfortable. But I’m reaching really to find a negative at this place. I’d go back without hesitation.

Enormous rooms with marvellous views of the lake and mountains. With your own balcony, table and chairs you can really make the most of the changing light and birds as they fly up and down the lake. The treat for us was the Chimango birds that came so close you could nearly touch them. They visited over and over again as inquisitive about us as we were about them.

We enjoyed the food but staying 4 nights when the menu doesn’t change you do run out of choices so variation on menu on a daily basis would be good. Our steaks on the last night were over cooked but this was well handled by the team who removed it from our bill. The night before my husband said the steak was excellent.

Staff very friendly and our requests for early breakfasts were willingly accommodated when we had to head off for 2 day’s fishing.

A lovely location for exploring the beautiful countryside. You are far enough out of Bariloche to have quiet dirt local roads to explore but allow plenty of time to get to the airport which is a min of 40 mins away.

Room tip: Top floor rooms give better views above tree line

This small 10 room hotel is some way out of Bariloche down an unmade road but makes up for this with very friendly and efficient staff and large rooms with gorgeous views. We stayed for 3 nights and were very well looked after. Our room had a balcony with seats to relax. Ours overlooked the garden not the lake but the lake was visible from the bedroom windows. It has the feel of a ski lodge with rustic charm and lots of comfortable sofas. The indoor / outdoor pool is thankfully warm and very welcoming after a day’s sightseeing. Being small, the restaurant offers a limited variety of options but we enjoyed 3 dinners there - even surviving some problems on the chefs night off! Breakfast has the wonderful benefit of a proper coffee machine and decent orange juice - the ultimate test! However there is a problem - the once isolated Hotel is now surrounded by new residential developments. Just about every house had at least one and often multiple yard dogs which started barking at any time of day or night. It also made walking the lanes a somewhat precarious business as the dogs didn’t all stay in their properties.
