Due to the recommendation of Lonely Planet I stayed two nights in this hotel in a single room and i think it's not the worst choice in Salta but definitly it's not that nice as it is described in the LP. The location is not bad (three or four blocks from the plaza). The rooms are clean but mine was very small. I saw a double room which seemed much more comfortable, amply and nice. You should definitly ask for a room that hasn't a window to the very noisy and busy street in front of the hotel. The breakfast was ok: not the standard of a hotel maybe but good enought for someone who usually stays in hostels. The staff was friendly. The rooms usually also have TV but mine didn't work. The hotel offers the possibility to pay with credit card (which most of the cheaper accommodations in Argentina doesn't).

Room Tip: Try to get a room with the window to the yard. The street is extremly busy and noisy. The double rooms seemd nicer than the single rooms.

This hotel unfortunately is not as it was described in the guidebook. It makes a decent impression when you enter. The reception area / dining area is fine. The breakfast is also ok. However, the rooms are not nice at all. The bed/ mattress was in a terrible condition with one side sagging down. We also had a couple of roaches in the room. Yes, it is not expensive but we decided to change hotel within Salta because we really didn't like this one. We were under the impression that the hotel staff didn't seem to care much.

The location is quite good. The service was average. There were two beds in our room and both were narrow and broken. The hostel was noisy, especially early in the morning with a raucous tour group breakfasting and checking out early, waking our sleeping baby. Soon after this people in adjoining rooms started moving furniture around (I wondered if it was the cleaners who had swung into action) - still only around 8.30am, which is early in Argentina. The breakfast was mediocre and when I went down to breakfast about 9am there was no crockery left even though the breakfast room was mostly empty and I had to wait for replenishments to arrive.

We did end up staying here for 4 nights but mostly because we couldn't be bothered to move. On the positive side, the location is very near to the square and easy to find from the bus station, just directly down San Martin. Staff were okay, though no English at all. Fair enough, it's a Spanish speaking country. Breakfast was the usual variety of dry white breads and sweets, sugar cereal, thin yogurt and coffee/tea On the negative, the rooms are just barely okay. The worst were badly stained pillows that are not quite covered by pillow cases that are too small. Yuck! The room and common area appeared worn but adequately clean. The hotel is right by a popular bus stop so is general mayhem in the evenings. We got an inside room so noise level was okay. We would recommend it only to those who are not clean freaks and not looking for European standards.

We stayed three nights in one of the newly renovated rooms on the ground flood.
The rooms are nicely refurbished and spotless, the breakfast is good, the personnel veey attentioned and friendly and the location very, very central.
A good choice for USD 40-45 per night for a double room.
