Owner description: The technical and structural features of our vehicles, allows the combination of three different circuits in the Northwest of Argentina in one day. The first one, the "Road to the Clouds" following the famous railway track of the "Train to the Clouds" through the "Quebrada del Toro" (Bull's Gorge) up to San Antonio de los Cobres. The second one goes through the Puna, along Route 40, up to "Salinas Grandes" (Salt Lakes) just between the border of Salta & Jujuy. And the third one, the downhill trip of Lipan to the picturesque village of Purmamarca, at the base of the well known "Mount of the Seven Colors". The circuit ends in Salta.

Juan and Mauricio were fantastic guides! At first the thought of being on a bus for 14 hours was a bit off putting but there was so much to see on the safari de las nubes we went ahead and booked. As soon as we left Salta city on the bus Juan got going on the microphone with lots of interesting information touching on landscape, agriculture, history and even current affairs in the country.

This tour is highly recommended, so much to see and enough pit stops and photo opportunities to really get a feel for the beautiful and ever changing landscape.

Beware of the altitude though!! You go from around 1000m in salta up to 4200m and back again, I suffered horrible altitude sickness for the whole next day.

We opted for the 2 day movitrack tour- of which the 2 days varied considerably!

Day 1- fabulous. Can't emphasise enough how good this tour is. Juan is the best guide I have had on a bus tour, took the time to explain everything, and his English was superb. He went the extra mile to translate everything (despite only 3 of us being English speakers) and answered all our questions.

The bus is adapted so you can see out the roof and you stop at sites where there aren't any other tourists. Loved all the small touches that made the day very special! (Will leave this as a surprise to anyone taking the tour!)

Day 2- this wasn't on a movitrack bus as we had presumed. Perhaps this should be explained more clearly. The mini bus had only a driver (who drove and guided) whose English was very muffled over the poor quality headphone/ speakers.

Driver seemed very uninterested in everything and I felt like an annoyance to him when asking him questions. He seemed ready to get us back to salta too quickly and the spots on this tour were less than inspiring. (Especially where non Argentinian tourists have to pay double the price as other tourists to enter the sites). He also seemed irritated that we chose not to dine at his 'recommended restaurant' and everything was very touristy.

All in all- I would 100% do the first day movitrack. It was also great to stay over and see the 7 coloured mountain in the morning. However the second day lacked anything special and I wouldn't recommend. Movitrack you need to make this clearer that the second day is completely different,/ increase the quality of this tour, / give another option to stay in purmarka and then return back to salta the next morning without this boring tour.

The first day of this tour is absolutely amazing! I cannot stress enough how amazing Juan, our tour guide was! He spoke perfect English and was genially so excited and enthusiastic about what we were seeing! The bus was comfortable and you could even look out of the roof! Also plenty of food was provided which was great!

The second day was completely different. It is not with Movitrack and it is an all in one driver and guide. This was totally different to the first day and not expected at all. The guide wasn't passionate and the sights weren't nearly as good... They just seemed to be tourist hotspots. The driver just wanted us to get back to Salta, and didn't speak clear English, as well as the speaker system being poor.

However, staying in Purmamarca overnight was so worth it, as the 7 coloured mountain looks so different in the morning, compared to at 6pm the night before, which is the time you would see it if you did the all in one day trip.

Overall worth going, but don't have high expectations for the second day, or try and consider going on from Purmamarca yourselves if this is an option!

It is difficult to rate the Safari a las nubes because on Aug. 7, they were late. We got up early to wait for 35 minutes at the meeting point (to fill the ID form and wait for late pax, whereas if you are late, the truck should go without waiting) and we stopped 10min after our actual departure to buy snacks : we did not even got out of the city center. Instead of climbing the truck and just GO for that long day !

Result ? We arrived too late in Purmamarca to really see the 7 colors hill and the guide did not even walked us to the lookout, we were like 10 people looking for it and when we eventually found it, it was too late to take pictures. What kind of guided tour is it ?
When we were at La Polvorilla, we didn't climb its stairs whereas your promotional pictures at some point showed that it was in the tour. False, because we wouldn't have had enough time.

To be fair, the guide walked us to the Santa Rosa de Tastil ruins, the breakfast was nice, the lunch was a three course one (but the restaurant is too far, there is a shorter way, so we lost another hour instead of just eating sandwiches in the truck to see Purmamarca before darkness has fallen), the afternoon snacks were very friendly, but I'm sorry to say that we come to Argentina mainly to see your landscapes so it doesn't help the schedule failure.
The truck is fast (too fast, because you loose too much time) and comfortable, although when at the very rear of it you cannot really exit your seat because of the stuff stored in the middle of the aisle, and I am not talking about luggages from people that stop in Purmamarca. Yeah, no stowage is intended to them, which means the truck is loaded with large non attached luggages, the worst in an evacuation scenario of the vehicle.

Plus, for large parts of the trip, the guide was not in the pax cabin but with the driver. I don't remember we had a safety briefing either. So, there are safety requirements that, in my opinion, are not fulfilled at all.

I'm sure it can be a great tour when everything is running well, on time and with a firmer guide, but when it is not the case, it turns into an endless road with countless useless stops.

2 pax were late coming back from the Salt Flats and everyone blamed them for our late arrival in Purmamarca, but completely forgot that we were already running 40 minutes out of schedule in the first place...

I know, after talking to them, that I'll probably be the only one to complain about that day because we always want to be proud of what we've done but you have to understand that it is an expensive tour for Argentina and the company has to perform better than the average tour, which cost much less than half ot this one and is on time, most of the time.

It is not a horrible tour obviously, you see a lot of things, but the salt flats in winter don't look like the pictures we usually see (it is more grey/brown than white, and it is not a lake).
On the profile pic, a truck on the salt flat with nothing around ?Just plain false^^

Well, now you know what to expect from it.

What a great trip with a great guide. It was a long day but we were prepared for that and there were adequate stops to stock up on anything you needed. The tour took in Puna, Salt Falts and Purmamarca all starting from Salta. There were numerous other small stops along the way. It was very well organised, everything was on time and it was just a really pleasant day. Couldn’t recommend the team more highly.
