Owner description: The technical and structural features of our vehicles, allows the combination of three different circuits in the Northwest of Argentina in one day. The first one, the "Road to the Clouds" following the famous railway track of the "Train to the Clouds" through the "Quebrada del Toro" (Bull's Gorge) up to San Antonio de los Cobres. The second one goes through the Puna, along Route 40, up to "Salinas Grandes" (Salt Lakes) just between the border of Salta & Jujuy. And the third one, the downhill trip of Lipan to the picturesque village of Purmamarca, at the base of the well known "Mount of the Seven Colors". The circuit ends in Salta.

My husband and I did this day trip yesterday. Fantastic ! A great guide and great driver. We stopped at lots of places, were provided with food all along the way. Plenty of photo stops, a good bunch of people and in english as well as Spanish. Would recommend to anyone visiting Salta.

I did the one day trip from Salta. The tour was very well run and extremely organised. Everything was timed very well and ran smoothly with a good amount of stops to take pictures and stretch our legs. Our guide was very friendly and knowledgable and more than enough food was provided throughout the trip (too much even!). The scenery and sites we saw were spectacular and diverse over the course of the day.

The only negative for me was the length of the trip - I found it too long and was extremely antsy to get off the bus and back to salta. It didn't help that we hit a storm on the way back into town and were delayed an hour. I would suggest cutting down on the amount of time at some of the stops. For example 45 minutes in the town with the 7 coloured mountain was too long when we had already been on the tour for 12 hours and everyone was ready to get back. Similarly, 30 minutes at a little village early in the day was way too much, given there was nothing really to see there.

Otherwise, it was good. Worth doing, despite the length of trip, but definitely a one time thing.

We booked this trip, the one-day tour with mini-van, because we really wanted to visit the Salinas Grandes. That was awesome! In the weeks before, we travelled a lot and did a road trip already in the region, that in mind, didn't make our trip spectacular.
Although there are photo-spots, it's different than DIY.
Many passengers just joined this trip only and than the perspective is different and ok.
A very long day, good combination of stops to explore sights/ take pictures etc. Very good driver and a guide who spoke very good English, gave extra attention to the few English speaking guests.
The only thing I did not appreciate at all was a delayed pick-up of one hour(!), we had to be ready at 6.45. I can imagine that you have to perform a hotelshuttle first, that there are some delays and that we were not the only one but we were number four(!) and the bus had to pick-up many passenger after our pick-up but no information or even apologies is a bad first impression(I already gave my feedback personally to the touroperator). Just keep in mind that these hotel pick-ups can make the day extra long.

We booked through Tastil Tours, just off the main square and chose the one-day tour to Salinas Grandes and Purmamara, and return. It's a long day - 15 hours door to door but well worth it. We passed through three climactic zones along the way and seeing the many stunning vistas and the ruins on the Inca Trail made it a very memorable trip. Our guide was Julio who was very knowledgeable, congenial and spoke very fluent English. He was also fun to travel with for the day. It's an early start so if you're a coffee fan, try and grab one at your hotel before heading out. The breakfast stop was at least 90 minutes into the ride and powdered instant coffee was available then. As was the world's hardest buns and some good croissants. It was a very light breakfast! But….that's a small detail. Lunch was terrific, as was the afternoon wine and cheese break. This tour was one of the highlights of our two week experience and I highly recommend it!

It was really good fun! Imagine traveling passing your head through the roof of your car...well that's what offers this tour. At any time you can open the roof and look at the landscape that way! The road and sceneries were incredible and very divers. The salinas grandes of course are amazing. Our guide was very nice and interesting. Very long day though and be prepared to potentially feel a bit diseased with altitude
