This hotel is a huge disappointment!
1. LOUD. It's located next door to a hostel that plays loud music past 12am. It was like trying to sleep in the middle of a dance club. We finally had to ask in the middle of the night for them to switch out rooms so we could sleep.
2. NO WIFI. Although they said they had wifi, it never worked. When we asked they said that it cuts off. They were unapologetic and shrugged it off.
3. NOT SO CLEAN. The hotel is worn down and just seems kind of dirty.
4. THE GYM IS A JOKE. What they called a gym was actually storage of old equipment. They had three old machines, outdoors, none of which were able to be plugged in. There were no weights and a car parked nearby was being worked on and the whole area smelled like smog.
5. THE SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. We spoke to several different people who always gave us conflicting messages about everything. One person said we could print out boarding passes; when we came back later that day the next person told us we couldn't because there was no ink in the printer. He didn't seem apologetic at all. We asked if the hotel had a map and one employee said if it wasn't part of the advertised material, they didn't have it. He was completely uninterested in helping us out. We ordered a taxi for the morning we left and when it didn't arrive the receptionist didn't seem at all interested in helping us get one. We went out onto the street to find one ourselves. Ultimately the staff was uninterested and unfriendly.
6. SUGARY BREAKFAST. If you like only pastries and frosted cereals for breakfast, this won't be a problem. But they did not have even any fruit for those who don't want to eat cake for breakfast.
Overall BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.

The hotel is diagonally opposite Puerto Iguazu bus station, an easy walk if you are arriving by long distance bus and for buses to the falls. Rooms are quite big but basic. Breakfast is good with fresh fruit salad as part of a continental breakfast. There is an attractive outdoor (not heated) swimming pool with a pleasant surrounding lounge/bar area. The pool is deep in places and there are no signs showing the depth. There are several very good restaurants within a short walk and the town centre is within easy walking distance. A really good base for exploring this attractive area.

This hotel is quite outdated, however the staff are extremely wonderful. They were very friendly, they helped us put together a full traditional Argentinian Barbecue and came to save us when there was a massive storm and all the power went out. There is a really nice butcher and supermarket just down the road an amazing (and cheap) bakery over the road with delicious fresh, hand made pastries, a service station over the road and lots of restaurants near by. Just make sure you are on the pool side of the hotel as there is a night club across the way that can get loud.

Room Tip: Pool side.

I was too tired after a long bus ride to go looking so I ended up at Hotel Alexander right across the bus station. For US $60.00 I got a dark and dirty room. It was cold so I never even saw the pool. Breakfast was sweet rolls and some cereal. For that price, I'm sure you can do better.

We only ended up here because we arrived very late into Puerto Iguazu (Argentina) with no accom booking - the Alexander is virtually opposite the central bus station. The decor is daggy and dull and our room on the ground floor, although an OK size, was dingy, dark and a liitle depressing. There was a (locked) door in our room that adjoined the neighbouring room and it may as well have been made of cardboard; we could hear everything the family next door did/said. The bar fridge in the room wasn't in an alcove; it was placed about 1.5m from the bed, and it made such a noise that we actually switched it off before going to sleep. The bathroom needed a good clean. The breakfast buffet is 10 kinds of sugar - i barely ate anything. For all of the above, we paid too much. On the plus side, the reception staff were helpful in many ways and the outdoor pool/garden area is gorgeous (but it was too cold to hang out there when we were there).
