“Salty and Overpriced”

This place is roomy and looks inviting. We inquired before eating to see if the meal was complete or only included the fish that is featured on the menu. They stated that it would come with either rice or potatoes and would be a complete meal for two people. Instead, we received a thin piece of fish, very salty in flavor, and a small salad and small piece of bread. We ordered some blue cheese dressing. A small cup ran four dollars. Just coming from Brazil, we were disappointed at the value and the quantity of the servings at this restaurant. All of the fish seems to be frozen rather than fresh. There must be better value to be had in Iguacu.

We had been in Argentina for a week and were brought to a succession of places where the only real option was barbecued beef and while the excellent argentine beef has a great and deserved reputation some of the beef served is pretty tough and awful so it was a great pleasure to eat here and enjoy river fish cooked well and reasonably priced
Total bill for two including a bottle of great Torrontes wine was less than 50 American dollars
This was comprised of starters and main course
Starters were superb chilli prawns and tasty fish empanadas
Main courses were surubi and carp
Both were excellent
The place is simple and cheap and as long as you stick with local fish fresh rather than frozen which clearly would be the case with their sea fish
All in all a great find

Simple fishes dishes cooked as they should be, fresh and without fuss. We had the prawns with bell peppers 2 nights in a row. prices are quite reasonable and the service was excellent.

I went to this place because of the good reviews on this site. My experience was totally different. The fish was not good, it was not tasty and the price was a rip off. The fish was frozen not fresh, it was merely adequately cooked at best, any pink bits were a product of improper defrosting which survived the fish being overcooked because of the uneven defrosting .

The first bottle of wine we were served was very badly off. The cheese sauce was merely adequate and how it had the effrontery to claim some relationship with a blue cheese was beyond credibility. The pricing was as far removed from good value as Cape Horn is from Trinidad or Tobago.

The chips or French Fries which came as a very expensive side dish were freshly cooked but ... they arrived more than 10 minutes after the main dish and were just that little undercooked to make one realise that the 'chef' had really lost it that night.

They can't cook fish and they can't cook chips so go somewhere else. Perhaps if the place was empty the cook might be able to achieve a basic competency but on a busy night this place was an overpriced disaster.

Avoid

Well worth considering if you enjoy fresh fish cooked simply. More of a café than a restaurant and not obviously aimed at tourists. Perhaps that is why our two meals with beers came to 173 pesos.
