Our 3 nts stay began poorly. Check-in person neglected to tell us about HEAT function on what was a "split" unit.We plugged in the small wall heating units not knowing we could get comfort. We slept in 8 degree C cold and it was miserable. Our room was Jr Suite and very large; we slept in a very small space to conserve temperature. Bed is otherwise VERY comfortable. Once Miguel showed us how to fix the problem, things got better. Well, sort of...We paid the extra price for the large room w/balcony jacuzzi, only to find no hot water for it. We had problems w/hot showers, likely due to power outages, which seem to be common. I had 1 warm shower and 1 hot one in 3 nts.
The management offered a partial refund, which required some additional communication after departing, but they came thru as initially promised.
We ate dinner one night--it was quite decent. Creative appetizer, even though we didn't know it was liver pate (we like that), it was tasty. Wine prices were fair and they offered a good variety of types and prices. Staff was always responsive w/recommendations, too. Sadly, the temps did not allow use of the pool but we walked around @the property and it is tranquil and well-tended.
WIfi was good when there was no outage (frequent during our stay).
The pre-arranged transport was an issue. We didn't expect to wait for an hour for so many others to board a bus. The we were taken to multiple hotels before arriving @ La Aldea. It took 2 hours for us to reach our room after leaving the flight w/our carry-on. Never again. We'd gladly pay for a taxi instead of wasting so much of our short time at this lodge.
If I get to return to Iguazu with my sister and niece, I would likely stay here again.
Thanks to the staff who attempted to fix issues they should not have had to address. Management needs to correct the power situation, for the sake of their guests.
